Thank you Dr. McDougall, for you are the reason for the following.

I have been doing a vegan diet for several months but have been on a strict Dr. M's diet for a little over 2 weeks. I have been doing an elimination diet. I did that before without being a vegan and it was helpful but nothing like this. I did eliminate beef and hard cheese before but the results were not like I am getting now. I am full, have great choices of foods to eat, thanks to my wonderful daughter who does all the cooking. She has been fabulous and is doing the elimination diet with me. That really helps. I must admit I had one bad day when I wanted to quit but with her support I plodded along. And boy am I happy I did.

Hip pain at night was the most excruciating pain I have ever had. For the first time in many many years I have been able to sleep since the severe pain in my hips at night has almost completely disappeared. I slept for 6 - 7 hours the last 2 nights without any interruption. That is quite the accomplishment for someone who hasn't slept though the night for 10 years. My daytime pain is improved also.

I have energy I have not had in 10 years. I want to go go go. I wake up ready for a busy new day. Plus in the last couple of months my cholesterol has gone from 270 to 199 and my blood pressure is much lower. I am going to the doctor to talk about getting off some of my medicines. Can't beat that. None of these improvements is worth eating something I thought I liked.

I am so happy to hear of your health improvements. Nothing keeps me on the right path more than how much better I feel.

That's a fantastic improvement in just two weeks! What a relief to have that pain ease and to be able to sleep.

Amazing! So glad you've had such a great improvement. :)

Would you mind listing what you are eating on the elimination diet? Or is it the one that Dr. McDougall details in the Hot Topics? I've tried the elimination diet that he details a few times and have a hard time sticking to it.

Thank you!

I didn't do as drastic as the Dr. M's elimination diet. I have a problem eating so we did a modified diet so I would have some things to eat that I like.

I am doing clusters of eliminations one cluster at a time. I found caffeine, soy, corn, and bananas are triggers for my Fibro pain. So now I have eliminated those foods which I liked but not enough to eat them and make me feel like I used to. I have several other foods on my list to test but keep plodding along. What I am doing is trying a food for a few days, stopping that food for a few days. Then I try another food. I keep a journal of how I am feeling which is helpful. Plus looking back and seeing my improvement is inspring.

I have had such great improvement that I have no thoughts of ever going back to the way things were before Dr M's diet. I really don't think of this as a diet, I think of this as my life plan for better health. I have struggled for so long with Fibro with no answers and no hope of finding anything that would help. I feel like I have been given my life back. And it is wonderful to have taken it back by doing this proactively. But I must credit my wonderful daughter who has been by my side through all of this and making wonderfully tasty foods.

I hope I have helped you a little. If I can help in any way let me know.

Yes, it did, thank you! Never thought about doing things in groups and starting with the most likely suspects first. That would be much easier!

That's wonderful that you've improved so much! I would be interested to know what a typical day of eating looks like for you...
