Glad you are enjoying the new DVD and the recipes. :)

Our two favorites are the Mexican and the Indian though we like to occasionally make the others (ie Southwest, Italian, etc).

In addition to recommended broil times.
Are they better to freeze and transport fully cooked or in the assembled/pregrilled stage?
Thx

Either way.

I have had success with both.

However, it depends on what you mean by "transport, and how long and under what conditions.

Personally, when I travel, I cook them and then take them with me and then consume them throughout the day.

I just ordered the fast food 2 dvd, but I'm going shopping tomorrow. What kind of oats do I need? I think I have some old-fashioned or rolled ones I use for apple crisp.

I used the old fashioned oats. I frozen the mexi patties and thawed then out to day in the microwave. I put it on top of my salad. It was wonderful. These recipe are amazing. They are giving me so many new choices for work and travel. Thank you Jeff.

Love the DVD. Am going to make the Indian burger, falafel, and kasha burger as soon as possible. Actually, the Indian burger is scheduled for dinner.

Question about the PDF files. I put it in the DVD player on the computer. But never saw where on the desktop to click it. Do I need to install a PDF program or whatever? Probably staring me in the face; but I'm really, really not savy with these things.

Most computers have Adobe Reader already installed. I'm going to assume you have a version of Windows on your computer. If you have a Mac, ignore the following and ask this question again, specifying you have a Mac so a Mac user can help. I've been a Windows gal since 1992 and know nothing about Apple products. :?

As for finding the recipes, just put the disc into the computer's DVD drive while pressing the shift key so it does *not* auto-start. If it does start, the menu on the DVD will have a link to the recipes but it only tells you to put the disc in the computer and doesn't open the file. Turn the DVD off but leave it in the disc drive.

Then go to Windows Explorer, find the drive and folder the dvd is in (on mine it's the D: drive, may be different on yours), and when you click on the folder on the left side of the screen, in that folder on the left you'll see 2 sub-folders appear. Ignore those and look on the right hand side of the window where you'll see folders and a lone file called burgers_fries. The .pdf may or may not appear, depending on your own computer's settings.

Double click on that file and the PDF file should open right up.

If you *don't* have a program on your computer that reads them, you'll be given an error message and I *think* a link to where you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader. Just follow the directions to download and install, or come back here first and tell us exactly what error you get and someone can walk you through it step by step.

Thank you, VeggieSue. I do have Adobe. I'll try it in a little bit. I was looking for it to pop up on the desktop. But, I didn't get an error message, so guess that's a good sign! Will let you know what happens in a couple hours.

We have enjoyed several of the recipes on the DVD. The taste is great but even with following the directions to the "T" the texture appears lose. Any suggestions. Also, I want to be able to occasional take them to work for lunch should they be per-cooked or frozen?
A new topic for "Work Meal's" may be an idea or perhaps a DVD!

I second the suggestion for a "work meals" DVD. Based on numerous comments about how Jeff travels eating this way with his burgers and potatoes, perhaps a "Mobile McDougall" presentation on how to best streamline bringing your own on-plan food.

Sorry to hear you are having a problem with the burger recipes

Let me review the procedure with you to make sure you are getting it right

Take a 14 oz can of no salt added Kidney beans and drain and rinse them very well. Then mash these beans with a potato masher or a fork. They should be mashed fairly well, though you should still see pieces of the beans. Then, add in 1/2 cup dry rolled oats and 1/2 cup cooked brown rice and 2 TB of a low sodium salsa or of a chopped tomato like POMI.

Mix together very well. Form 4 or 5 patties out of the mix. Let them sit on a plate, uncovered in the fridge for about 20 minutes.

Then broil or grill them.

Let me know how it works.

In Health,
Jeff

Thanks.

I appreciate the suggestions I think this is a great topic for an article, presentation and/or DVD.

During the 10 Day Program, we have a class on this that Mary McDougall teaches and it is always a hot topic during the small groups sessions I hold with the participants.

As such, I am going to start a thread so forum members can also share their tips and tricks to travel, work, etc

Thanks

In Health
Jeff
