Yes so true, and you know that old saying, the bigger they are, the harder they fall!!
My younger brother was astounded at how I look, beings I am a lot thinner than a yr ago at my mom's funeral. When I still weighed about 200 lbs. It is amazing his reaction. Son and I had vegan sloppy joes, and baked vegan beans, ( that I sprouted too) and the rest of our wedding company had hamburgers, hot dogs, and creamy brocc and mac salad. ( all of which the other mother brought along with her) The only thing that tempted me were the little whoopie pies and the black licorice!! Tomorrow is the rehearsal diner and it seems like I have been working all day for a month on so many details that I need a nice time to relax. I keep telling myself that nothing can ever taste as good as how it makes me feel to get this reaction from my brother today!!
no big problem at all staying on the McDougall path at all.

I truly had a great time at son's wedding! It was amazing how many people told me I looked good. and I am about to turn 60. Even Dh told me a complement .... There a lot of people who had requested the veggie meal, and the waitress went aorund asking where were the vegans with the oil free meals? It was an amazingly grand day for us here. Never stopped smiling. The girls had a blast, all of the bball players and truly they stole the show.
DH was told a condition now that has no cure and now he is willing to try the vegan WOE!! About time is all I can say.... today he had only carrots, Brussels sprouts plenty of both, V8 juice and seltzer water..... and before we went to see the doctor, both of us, he did gobble up some lunch meat.... He says he will do it, hope he will. the alternative is not good.
Prayers are needed... thanks in advance!

So happy for you. I can tell you are happy about this WOE and the results. Be proud of what you have accomplished my friend.....You have earned it. Where are the pic's? :D Carollynne, could you send me the link to the veggie loaf? I am looking for an alternative to veggie burgers....Thanks

And prayers go out to you and your DH. Hope he gets scared enough to follow through.

C

Hi there Christine, yes he is doing it, and it is killing him, and it is funny, but now I think that I was sent on this mission of becoming a vegan early on so that I can lead him and help him to do it ok. I just made the cauliflower soup for lunch, and it was the usual steel cut oats for Bf too. He will keep me on it too, and now it will be all 3 of us!! He did blow it yesterday, and that was ok, just start over today!! so far so good today.
I am still sitting at 168.8 and that amazed me, but cool beans. Now I can continue down the path!!
Quite a few of us at the wedding were veggie types and really on myself and 2 sons said the no oil deal, and it all worked out!

drat the pix did not work, will re try them some time , but had to write again and say the MWL is working and I am sticking to it nicely and will not give in to the candy, etc bread. I love this feeling of a settled stomach and also the wt loss has continued a bit more, I have staying in the 160s for a week, and now weigh 165.8 nice :-D :-D :-D :-D

DH has joined me on this WOE to lower his lipids # and I must say he is as determined as I was to stick with it. So I am proud of him.
Anyway, another one of those healthy Eating Challenges is starting here, and my doctor asked me to be a coach again. it is going to be fun, and meeting other vegans around the area is great too.
Many will start but few will finish the race...... It has been at least maybe 3 yrs for me and 2 yrs of low normal liver enz, so I am not about to stop now. But finding this site has really helped me out with all the good facts and so on, so thanks Dr McDougall for this site and the knowledge on it, free for the taking, and partook big time!
You all have a good night! :) :)

went to a board mtg tonight, and altho it was at a local restaurant, dinner was optional, so I had some plain iced tea, with lemon. wish I had not had that caffeine, but it was a cool mtg, and since I had a late huge salad for lunch, no problem, They are used to me now, and it was a riot seeing all the high fat food they all had. I hate to gloat, but I am just so glad I am on this WOE!! Good news is that in the future one choice for all mtgs that include a meal with be a veggies one. They are really used to me now!
I sent out my first emails to my new team for the healthy eating adventure!! this time around I am so much more ready for this team coach thing.
DH is sticking to his guns and even announced that he is still going plant based, just went off of it for our little vacation to the mts! Sure hope so!
I have been happily picking my neighbors greens, since she and her Dh both told me to, they will not be able to use much of it, and the spinach is so good looking and a line of the lettuce mixes. now why can't I grow that on my side? I have tired 2 yrs in a row, and oh well, I am in 7th heaven picking greens, then soaking them in a tub of water, and munching all morning on spinach, then made up a huge greens salad for all 3 of us, and since today is was super hot, I think the lettuces will go bitter fast now. But the cooler weather has made it last longer than usual for us in this area!

Thanks Rosey, Christine and Potatohead for stopping by to encourage me again. I need it. Somedays are just awful for me, and today was one of them, my Korean friend asked me to come over and learn how to make the mandus ( the little half moon pies things) and so I really had wanted to, and so Son and I went over. It was great. She is a very generous person, and wanted me to leave with some of the mandus that are fried, plus a batch to put in my bamboo steamer. and I brought her a few things too. and it was so nice of her, that I took them home. I did cave in and had 3 of them, and the steamed ones were great, but just not me anymore. My mouth felt too icky so I am cured once again... why I am weak" human qualities I know.... So, I will let Dh eat them, if he wants to. Son and I want to make up purely veggie with potatoes ones and only use water to seal the edges. She also made up a nifty bean sprout veggies side dish. NO one here has ever been this generous or hospitable to me, in like 26 yrs, so I still had hardly believe it at times. but all in all, I made up a great greens salad again for us all, and also made up a green juice from a ton of lettuce mix and spinach etc from neighbor garden. It was amazing. I felt so much better after drinking some of that. I added one orange and one apple, plus a few blueberries to the juicer and that sweetened up the pot.
We are going to a Colonial Day of activities at a near by French and Indian War Fort .....and it sounds like a nice day, with demos on cooking and herbs, and healing and some kind of local historian lecturer. I refuse to buy any of the food for sale, but will pack up some of the great fruit we have now. Son wants to go pick blackberries and that sounds good too.
Hope for a better day tomorrow. Wt has been under 165 all week. Hope to stay there too.

Guess that's were I'm luckier then most I actually get sick if I eat outside the rules so visibly so that people have quit offering me things that have those items in them.

We are definitely here for ya sweetie and you know how to get a hold of me off this board too. HUGS!!!

Rosey you are lucky, but I do feel sick still, and must detox tomorrow after those mandus, the green juice does help a lot for the cleansing of my guts!

Holding my own at 164- 165 so that is nice, big time nice. Some of my friends have noticed that I look skinny and thinner, what an odd concept for me to consider.
But I decided to pick some more of the free greens in my neighbor's garden, and again her husband who was out with teh kids, told me to help myself, they were just not going to use them much. So I made up a nice green juice with a huge bunch of them, and the mix of greens was so cool, wish I knew what they all were. It was a salad mix, and the name of it I cannot type at all. Some of it were cabbaggy/or spicy kinds of smell, and a heavier leaves and some were the lighter lettuces. Plus I just ate up a nice big greens salad with Dr Essy's dressing of vinegar, mustard and garlic. I love it now. All is well in the kingdom, and Dh had a BBQ seitan sandwich, and I did too. It was pretty good.
I am keeping all my garden plants watered, in spite of the intense heat these last few days. Bugs have gotten into 2 of my tom plants and that has never happened before, the leaves look awful, so I am dousing it with my soapy water hope it works.
