So glad I didn't plant our tomatoes outside yet. It frosted this morning!

But I did plant a row of green beans, a hill of zucchini, one of butternut and one of crookneck squashes.

Next week I will be planting corn, tomatoes and maybe a few other things. :)

Faith--did you get the rest of your garden planted yet?

yep My Mother's day present from my son was for him to come out and help me. I got my sweet potatoes in last Friday and then everything else on Sunday. Brian got most of the tomatoes caged or staked. I need more stakes.

I knew I was going to forget something, and darn if I didn't and that was cucumbers. I have tried them two years and haven't had luck. I don't understand how I use to grow them so well before.

We got the garden at work planted too.

Now just waiting for sprouts to happen :-) Hoping the bugs don't eat too much.

The earwigs are eating up my pak choi.

My garden seams to be doing better right now. I was beginning to wish I had never planted a garden this year.

I started toting well water to water the plants. Evidently there is something in our city water that is bad. My husband reminded me after the tornadoes last April, that we had to water with well water. So, I think there is something in our water since the tornadoes last year.

We seam to be having a drought like last year also. I mulch my garden about 4 to 6 inches deep after making sure the ground is real wet. The soil then doesn't need to be watered that much. I watered it 1 time last summer. If you mulch the plants when the ground is dry, it will remain dry.

We have just been getting buy with our rain, but are still below what we should be. So between me watering and rain, we are doing well.

It's a good thing you have a well nearby. I am sure the minerals in there do the plants good.

I installed a rain barrel last week, and I love it. It helps a bunch, and I'm thinking of getting another.

The weather hasn't gotten really hot yet, so I seem to have more greens than usual. I can't eat them fat enough.

It is supposed to be above 90 here Thursday. I understand it will be above 90 for awhile. We got about 3/4 of an inch of rain today.

I would love a rain barrel system too--I haven't checked into this at all but think I will online. Kiki please share with us your system and how it works...We have our own well since we live out in the country and so we use it.

I'm so glad you've got your garden in Faith. I hope it goes well for you!!

I've got tomatoes on my Sweet 100 plant that are as big as a nickel already...but our weather has changed to a few cooler days...but by this week-end to get warm again.

Also planted my corn and tomatoes. Still want to plant more and will as soon as the weather improves.

oh wow tomatoes already on the sweet 100s. Darn and here I got excited to see one bloom. My plants which I started were smaller than those out on the market. I must admit since getting them in two weeks ago, they have really grown and looking very well.

So glad Faith--right after I planted my tomatoes outside it cooled off. They haven't like the weather--they look pretty scruffy but they are alive and I expect they will do okay. I have three Sweet 100's already and many more coming.

Planted pinto beans and red beans today for an experiment. I've never planted them before so we will see how they turn out. I also planted several days ago some spinach and beets. I'll enjoy the greens that is for sure.

Potatoes coming up well and looking very good. Onions doing well too. So is broccoli.....I love to go out in the garden. I'm pretty caught up on weeding but still go over the garden nearly every day.

ha I didn't think there was such as being caught up on weeding. I weeded on Sunday and when I went and looked on Tuesday the weeds were back.

I can't believe you have tomatoes already. My plants aren't large enough yet. I do have a few blooms. Last week we were in the 90s so the tomatoes, peppers and eggplant really grew.

Ive got peas that are forming in the pods right now. Zucchini plant is growing and have been picking green onions, and I have hot peppers that are setting teeny tiny peppers on. Tomatoes are planted as well.

When pea picking time comes, I will probably be standing in the garden eating them and putting some in my basket. Hahaha!

Well, I'm excited, I got a pot of basil this morning at a Fairbanks farmers market! Yay, I got my little garden back!! I have to keep it mostly in the front window though, so the moose don't get it. Darn herbivores!
