"Funny" and "Hitler" do not belong together.

Well, that was pretty funny. I'm sure there will be an anti-Starch Solution response soon.

Correct! There is no humor with Hitler, it is just vulgar! Perhaps show it to the people that suffered under his rule.

If anyone wants to assess blame for this video being here I will accept it. I was asked if it would be ok to post it and I said go ahead. I guess one way of looking at the subject is to say humor has lines that must not be crossed and in the eyes of some this was one of them. Maybe I am showing my age but I grew up during a time when this was not nearly as sensitive a subject as it is now. I watched Hogan Heroes on TV and saw skits poking fun of Hitler on variety shows by Jewish actors and comediens and it was all fair game. Perhaps it isn't anymore. I'm not sure where the historical line should be drawn. Jokes about Hitler are not ok but Atilla the Hun is fine? Is the line at WW1? Revolutionary war?
Call me crude but I could see humor in the video. I don't have any family that were persecuted by Hitler but I would see the humor if the subject was the Irish potato famine or one of the many Mexican revolutions.
I apologize if anyone was emotionally hurt by this video and I will devote more thought to the next request.

The devil, that proud spirit, hates to be mocked. It is not uncommon to make fun of and satirize the enemy. Believe it or not there are still people today who admire this horrible man and they do not deserve the dignity of logical arguments against fascism or the cult of personality surrounding that agent of evil. Mockery is a weapon that can be as lethal as firearms to some. I am sorry that some were offended by the video. You understand, though, that it could not have been anyone's intention to make light of the horror of the Nazi intent to conquer and destroy or of the holocaust. I thought the video trivialized Hitler, and not in anyway the suffering for which he and others of his ilk were responsible.

People who are offended by this really should go back and look at the history of anti-Hitler propaganda put out by the U.S. during the war. Making Hilter out to be a bumbling idiot was the norm. Doing so wasn't making light of the evil that was going on. Mothers and fathers still sent their sons off to fight him. Many of those sons willingly gave their lives in the struggle to purge our world of Hitlers evil. That evil was no laughing joke to any of those and I doubt they felt slighted by any of the propaganda making Hitler out to be an idiot. It's what we humans do. It's a coping mechanism.

This video does not make light of anything Hitler did any more today than things we put out all those years ago. To suggest otherwise is to suggest that you care more about what happened than those of us who laughed at the video. Or worse, that you care more about what happened than those who fought and died to stop him, or those who's sons and daughters died to stop him, because that whole generation laughed at far worse than this video.

As Norm says, making fun of the enemy reduces his power. Warner Brothers and Walt Disney used this in their cartoons in the 1940's.

Bugs Bunny took on the Nazis in 'Herr vs Hare' and the Japanese in 'Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips' - a cartoon so offensive to the Japanese by today's standards it can't be shown. Donald Duck slaved under the Nazis in 'der Fuhrer's Face' - which was also a Spike Jones song I remember singing growing up in the 1950's.

Mel Brooks - a man with every reason to hate Hitler - did a spectacular job mocking him in 'The Producers' - which I actually saw when it came out. Nobody walked out of 'Springtime for Hitler' at my showing, but plenty laughed till they cried.

The current meme of reediting the scene of Hitler (its just an actor after all) with new dialogue is just part of this trend.
