Thanks for the recipes Chile :)

For Mother's Day I had corn on the cob, a sweet potato, asparagus, brussel sprouts, and mushrooms with balsamic vinegar. The sweet potato was too wet in my opinion. My dad baked it in foil. I always cook mine just in the oven, no foil (on parchment paper to collect the juice). I prefer mine because the skin gets a little crispy and sometimes syruppy which I like.

So I didn't get a single skewer because my dad started making the meat and veggie skewers first and I was grossed out thinking of cross-contamination as I watched his hands go from raw meat bowl to veggie bowl to pineapple bowl.. Then my sister (who practically ate McDougall last night) gathered up all these other skewer veggies for her own roasting. So luckily I had the veggies I brought. The pineapples were all gone. And while they're good cooked on the grill, I could pass having watched Dad slobber them with meat bacteria. Ew.

Have to go back from lunch now. I had not 1, not 2, but 3 soup cups. Pad Thai (favorite), Miso (also good), and Split Pea. I didn't feel like taking a walk to get food.

Still recovering from the yoga on Saturday.

I had potatoes last night with ketchup and garlic rice vinegar. It's my simple comfort food. Although the first batch I overbaked so they were too crispy. The second batch was better although there were less of them.

This morning I had my cereal and fruit (no strawberries) but I got busy and when I came back to my food the wheat squares soaked up all the almond milk and it was all mushy and not that great. So I didn't eat too much.

For lunch I had a can of Eden brown rice and lentils. Not terribly yummy but I didn't feel like walking to a store.

Think I'll have more potato wedges tonight. This time I'll try Russet instead of Idaho.

Pretty busy at work. There is a possibility of going to yoga tonight, although I am feeling pretty sleepy. :o

I picked up 10 lbs of Russet potatoes at Smart and Final on the way home. Each 5 lb bag was 99 cents. Can't really beat that! (Unless you grow them yourself.)

So guess what? I had more potatoes for dinner! Yummy.

For dessert, I'm having peaches. At least, I've had one and I'll probably have another one. They are pretty small but ripe, juicy, and delicious.

No yoga tonight. Felt like lounging and eating, not rushing out to catch a bus and do yoga.

I've pretty much finished The Starch Solution. Now I need to get the regular book so I can find recipes faster.

With the week I am having, I would have done the same thing! I seriously want to come over to your house and lounge and eat those potatoes with you! :D

Well I do hope you get some rest and veg time, CarolynA. Did you know you share my first name and last name initial? Quinkydink.

Now for my log...

B: cereal with fruit and almond milk and added some peach this time
L: Eden can of lentils and a potato with ketchup and garlic rice vinegar
D: vegan French toast with real maple syrup

I used to make vegan French toast all the time and it's really good with cranberries. However it's not so easy to find oil-free cranberries and I didn't want to bother finding any cranberries on my walk/bus home when I planned dinner.

So I'm a little low on the veggies today but I'm not sweating it. I was sleepy this morning and didn't even get my contacts on. Just went out the door with my glasses.

Tonight is another lounge at home night. I should go to rehearsal but I'd like a break. I want to get to bed earlier tonight and also have some books I want to read. The cold weather probably has something to do with it too.

I did go to rehearsal last night and had fun. And of course, had a hard time dragging myself out of bed this morning. I finished the bread last night with some honey.

This morning I had cereal with blueberries and the last of the almond milk that's kept at work.

For lunch I've had 2 small potatoes with ketchup and garlic rice vinegar. So I'm still being a fairly simple, lazy cook and eater.

Not sure what to have for dinner. The French toast was mighty yummy...

I have some errands to run tonight so I don't think I'll be fitting in much exercise. Except for some walking around.

Finished The Starch Solution and I want to try some of the recipes at the end. At my rate, it would be great if I could fit in one new recipe a week. Although I've also been thinking of getting some Ezequiel tortillas and making hummus quesadillas again.. My flat non-stick pan has gone missing. I think it got scratched up and a roommate did away with it. It's been (apparently) replaced with a non-stick pan with little ridges on the bottom. OK for French toast but not sure about quesadillas..

I have successfully avoided nuts (except the almond milk in my cereal), See's candy, ice-cream, junk food, chips, etc. for quite some time now. :)

Last night I did have some more French toast. I felt like spoiling myself. I also had brussel sprouts and mushrooms.

For breakfast I had cereal with blueberries and a little banana.

Not sure what I'll have for lunch, I brought some options though.

Tonight is another busy errand night. I'm not sure what I'll eat. I'd really like to get to bed earlier than last night though (stayed up late reading) because I won't be able to sleep in properly for another week! Yeeks.

Also I'm traveling Monday and Tuesday so I'll see what I can do McDougall-wise. I don't have much time to prepare as Sunday I get to be an extra on a film shoot which will be fun. I'll also try to bring some healthy stuff to the shoot on Sunday. Have to get up early to prepare. And Saturday I have the rehearsal and then two friends' birthday parties (at the same time) which should be fun. We are going to an Indian restaurant and I will do my best considering we might be eating family style.. I know it will be veg, getting out the dairy shouldn't be a problem, it's the oil that may be a problem.

Maybe I should make a large vat of potato curry veg and just take that with me. It should still be yummy if I have to eat it cool. So I might not post an update for a while.

Have a good weekend!

For lunch I had a potato and nutritional yeast with some honey and some sourdough loaf and honey.

For dinner I'm having brown rice and potato veg curry. I was tempted to just order Thai but decided not to because it's expensive and oily. So instead I made curry and now I'm thinking my food is here, ready to eat and cooling off, and I'd probably still be waiting for my Thai if I'd ordered it. Plus I saved money. So happy about choosing to be healthy and frugal.

I made a huge vat of curry. OK, not a huge vat, but I used 3 cans of diced tomatoes, a full pound of frozen veggies, 3 small (but not too small) potatoes, some frozen peas (not included in the first bag of veggies), and white kidney beans I found in the cupboard. No cauliflower sadly, but I decided to just eat out of the cupboards and freezer. So the curry should last a while. Maybe I can take some with me for lunch tomorrow after the rehearsal and take some for the shoot on Sunday. I should make more brown rice or quinoa too.

So I'm getting by. Haven't tried the curry. I was just too tired and hungry to pick out the green beans and lima beans so I'll have to make do with them in the curry. There's also a lot of corn and carrots. And like I said, no cauliflower. Alas. The white kidney beans add an interesting, solid flavor. Not bad.

Breakfast was the rest of the loaf of bread made as vegan French toast. No lunch. Dinner was Ethiopian for my 2 friends' birthdays. That was fun and yummy. I had vegan, of course. It did have oil. Afterwards everyone wanted ice-cream. The lactose intolerant couple and I had candy and everyone else had ice-cream. Oh well. One night. Tomorrow's the film shoot. I forgot to email them I'm vegan although the director and her AD know I am, so we'll see what happens. I may bring something, it's in Larkspur which is pretty far, and a day long shoot, so it'd suck if there was really nothing I could eat and I got hungry. So I'll bring a banana and maybe something else.

So all in all, not a great day food-wise but very good one friend-wise.

I forgot to say my friend (the birthday girl) loves gardening and gave me a bunch of fava beans. There was much discussion about how to cook them, because apparently they are quite a process. So maybe I'll try on Wednesday night once I'm back from the work trip and settled in. My boss made a fava hummus so maybe I can do something like that..

The trip to San Diego was fun. I definitely ate oil and some cheese. The worst was the lunch during the training day, yesterday. I picked "pasta with vegetables and a fat free sauce", which I thought would be a marinara sauce but it was really a cold pasta salad with dressing. The pasta was swimming in the dressing! It was gross! The fruit side was just OK and the hummus/pita probably had oil and anyway didn't taste all that fresh. So. Not one of the better meals. So it was a "make-do" kind of affair for me, not the gourmet treat that everyone else was enjoying (meaty stuff).

Anyway, it was still fun to travel.

After the trip and the busy weekend I'm having a simple potato, honey, and nutritional yeast for lunch. I had cereal and blueberries and some almond milk for breakfast. I didn't have time to pack any of my loads of veggie curry this morning or last night. Our flight was delayed so we got in super late and I was too sleepy to get up earlier. At least I have it ready for a quick dinner tonight before I head back out for the Wednesday rehearsal.

While I'm enjoying the play and the fun stuff I do on the weekends, I'm really looking forward to it being over so I can have my weekends and Wednesday nights to myself.

you sound way busy. Good idea to keep self on track is know where stores and stuff are in case you can't get things that will be healthy and make you feel good.

Yeah, good point. Well I'm back from another busy weekend. Last week we went to San Diego for training and this 3 day weekend I had rehearsal and helped my friend with a shoot. It was fun although tiring and not the best eats around. It was in San Jose but I don't remember where things are there except restaurants (went to San Jose State but commuted, and back then I ate anything). So too bad I didn't read your post just before I left! Might've put more effort into finding something. However it is hard when your hosts insist on paying for everything morsel you eat. I always do better when I'm on my own and independent.

Right now is my first free time in a while. I really need to clean and tidy up my room and fridge and get things organized so I get right back into a healthy routine. Just still feeling so lazy. I didn't get much sleep last night too (but that's my fault of course).

Howdy. Yes, I am here, just busier at work and busy outside of work too I guess!

For breakfast I had something really yummy I'd like to share:

oatmeal with old fashioned oats
a little soy milk
chopped up cherries
and the key ingredient ~ a little bit of Herbamare sprinkled on it

very yummy! 8)

I'm busy saving money (to pay bills) and learning French. A little sleepy at the moment.

Au revoir. hope that's spelled right.

Same breakfast as yesterday only today I put too much soymilk in. Still good.

Last night I had real ice-cream.

So I'm here to fess up and get back into 100% compliance.

Other than the ice-cream I did OK. I made pasta for lunch today. Not sure what I'll have for dinner. Going to clean out my cupboards.

Jogged yesterday but not today (blame the ice-cream!).

May try jogging this evening.

Need to get one of those really good blenders so I can make banana-cream, a perfectly healthy ice-cream substitute. Need to do that!
