Hi, all. I am looking for some advice. It is looking like my workplace is going out for Thai food on Friday. It is an in service training day, and we get treated to lunch. It's nice that it is free, but even nicer to sit and chat with my coworkers, so I really like to go. Now, before I started MWL, I would have been thrilled that Thai food was the choice, but now I am a little baffled. This isn't a particularly veg-friendly Thai place, so I am not sure if I can do much beyond a pile of lettuce with lemon juice! I am guessing they could steam veggies for me, and maybe I could eat non-brown rice with them for this one time.

Any ideas?

Call the place ahead of time, explain your situation and see what you can come up with together.

I have done this at numerous places and it is very helpful! Sometimes when they cannot accommodate you and you are part of a big party they will be OK with you bringing food in for yourself (I have done that 2x myself)

I'm rather fond of Thai summer rolls, but you have to watch the sauces. It's not much food though.

We had thai today for lunch! I had brown rice (I wasnt expecting them to have it!!) and steamed veggies, which they were happy to prepare for me. I find that thai and chinese restaurants are two of the easiest to eat out in my area.

Funny thing, i found out this morning that I was looking at their old website, with their old menu, and that they do offer brown rice now! And looks like some other promising possibilities that could be tweaked to MWL. Yay!

I'm sure they can do the summer rolls for you without shrimp. I would ask.

Thanks for everyone's help. I ended up getting brown rice and steamed veggies and put a little soy sauce on it. No problems and it tasted great!
