Hello, I'm new to the board with a quick question.
How will you observe the Lenten Season dietary laws?

That's a good idea, I wasn't sure what I was going to do since I already don't eat meat and fats.

Thank you for the welcome RAS. :)

Remember, it's about *sacrifice*, so the no-meat rule is no sacrifice to us so we have to choose some other way. This question comes up now and then in various forums:

I remember back in the early days of the old forums Jan Tz gave up the Internet, including the McDougall boards. It meant so much to her that her Star McDougaller write up is titled From Lent to a Lifetime of Better Health:

Hers was the fourth one, that's how long ago it was.

Thank you for posting those links VeggieSue, it was helpful to me. I've decided to water fast today with a small bowl of soup at dinner and do the same on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout Lent.

I love to read the Star McDougaller stories, they inspire me so much and I'm very grateful that Dr. McDougall hosts this board. Since I'm the only vegan at my house, the support is lacking and I'm the cook, some days are easier than others.

Hi. I'm sorry I missed this discussion: I'm Catholic and was wondering what I would give up for Lent since I don't eat meat. Then, our priest mentioned that "giving something up" could take the form of giving up being complacent and, in turn, getting involved. So, I became more devoted to a charitable cause. I also became more committed to daily prayer, the rosary, etc. Funny...I've noticed that making these things part of my routine has led to making some other things more routine--namely exercise. I guess creating habits can be habit forming!

I don't know if you are still checking this space, but it would be nice to touch base with you from time to time!
