Hello all,

I'm new to this board and would like to hear opinions on a problem I've had with implementing Dr. McDougall's dietary recommendations:

My stools have become very gassy. Therefore, they float in the water in the toilet bowl. It's become really hard to make them go down, sometimes I need to flush twice. As I'm already having frequent bowel movements with this diet (2-4 times daily) I'm a bit scared to see my water bill.

What could be the cause of this and how could I address it?

Thanks in advance!

For the most part, this is probably normal and caused by new foods and higher fiber content in your diet. If you're eating foods you're not used to eating, the bacteria in your gut need time to adjust. If gas from some foods is causing discomfort and if you know what foods they are, you could reduce the worst offenders and eat more of the foods that don't cause gas. If you're not horribly uncomfortable, you could just give it some more time to work itself out. A probiotic for a month or two may or may not help.

My ex husband had a thing about floaters ... me I love them ... he used to break them up with the bog brush or when at work used to sneak a stick into the loo ...

Well first you can examine them more easily and second I always thought it meant they are healthier being light and fibrous

I've always liked checking them out - fascinating
