So Spiral, our own Mercury, is running his big half marathon tomorrow.

Good luck Spiral! Hope it is all you have hoped (and trained) for.

Thanks to you both for the encouragement.

Just to give you a little pre-game show analysis. I have been having some problems with my left IT band over the past several weeks.

In most of my training runs, I haven't had any problem at all. In my 15K race about a month ago, during mile 8, I noticed it for the first time. But after a few days rest, it wasn't a problem.

However, the problem reappeared during mile 4 of the Carmel half marathon. Not a huge amount of pain. Just enough pain to sort of get inside my head.

So, after the Carmel half marathon, I took it easy. Three days of light running last week, totaling seven miles. This week, no running at all.

And even though my left knee/IT band doesn't hurt at all while walking, I have been ice-ing my left knee and IT band. I've done some stretches too.

The difference between tomorrow's half marathon and the one I ran two weeks ago is huge. The one tomorrow will have about 30 to 35 times the number of participants. We're talking 35,000 runners.

Madness. :D

I don't know how things will go tomorrow. But I have a feeling, regardless of my final finishing time, it will be a lot of fun.

Thanks again for the encouragement.

I'll post something over at Exercise and Fitness on how it all went down.

...

There are plenty of half marathons. There's only one you. Walk or drive it if necessary. It's not worth being out of commission for months just to prove something to yourself.

Good luck and God speed!

Hope you have a great race and meet any goals you have set for yourself. My hubby's doing a 10K on Sunday. It's a pretty hilly one but I know he's still hoping to better his time (or at least his pace) from the quarter marathon we did last month.

Me, I'm still trying to recover from the quarter marathon. It really aggravated a painful heel and I'm still waiting for my custom orthotics to be returned from refurbishing to see it that helps. If not, I will have to give up this year's plan for the Redwoods half marathon and look into maybe next year.

Thanks everyone.

As promised, I posted a post-game analysis of my half marathon result over in the Exercise and Fitness area. It's titled Bent, but not broken, which gives you a bit of a preview of how I did this morning. Isn't the suspense killing you? :D
