I haven't lost any weight in over a week. I'm only 20 lbs into my journey and still have about 40 to lose. Isn't it too soon to plateau? How do I get past it? Do I keep on doing what I'm doing and hope it picks up again or do I need to make some adjustments to what I'm doing? Any input would be appriciated! :unibrow:

When I was following mwl a few years ago, I reached a plateau...or at least I thought I did. I was eating too many rice cakes, so I cut back on those, and I started losing weight again. Also, consider trying to eat more green and yellow veggies or trying to eat smaller portions more often throughout the day. You may have a different culprit, but know that this plan is made for you to eat as much as you need to and still lose weight.

Wish you the best! Just stick with it. You'll figure it out.

You may want to consider starting your own journal in that forum and ask for feedback on your food.

About 15 lbs. in I cut back on my starch and increased raw vegetables. I've also mostly stopped eating snacks in between meals. That's worked for me.

Why is is "too soon"? I wasn't aware that there was a law that all bodies followed. ;) Just keep on keepin' on and it will come off.

Trust me on this: One day you'll wake up and realize that it no longer feels like "being strict." It just feels GOOD. :)

I know all bodies are different. I just thought being Im still fat, that I should still be losing at least a little in a weeks time.

I think i got to the point where I have to be a little more disciplined to get results. I knew it was coming but didn't think it would be so soon!

Don't get me started on plateaus...oops, too late!

I hit an epic plateau at 177 pounds. Every weekly weighing was the same, for close to TWO MONTHS! And I was doing MWL like a champ, the whole time (with the very occaisional dip into some avocado in a sushi roll). I tweaked things a bit, but the best thing I ever did was just kept on going. I did not quit, and just kept GOING...

I am currently at 143 :-P

I was on a plateau for most of February. There were a couple of weeks with no changes, then a few times where I seemed to lose a bit only to regain it the following week. I kept on doing what I was doing with a few tweaks. I was eating some Japanese rice crackers when I was in the mood for something crunchy which were low-fat and McDougall compliant but too high in calorie density. I still have those but much less often and when I want a crunch I usually go for carrots instead. I was also occasionally eating muesli as a late afternoon snack. Again it was McDougall compliant, no oil but some sunflower seeds and raisins so I have eliminated that. And like others said I would look at my plate and try to increase the amount of veggies in comparison to the starch. You might find it helpful to reread the calorie density thread on Jeff's forum. I refer to it often!
