Yes he does go over both plans in that he explains The McDougall Plan and then says what foods are and are not allowed. He then says to lose weight people should not eat foods made of flour and avoid high fat vegetables which he lists. However there is much more in the book including a lot of references to research supporting his views. The book was written for those totally unfamiliar with The McDougall Program, for those who are familiar with the program, but want a better understanding of the reasons behind it and for those who need some facts in order to explain the program thoroughly to others. It not only gives the science behind a plant based diet, but facts that specifically support a starch-based diet. I also have The McDougall Program: 12 days to Dynamic Health and the Maximum Weight Loss book, but in my personal opinion, The Starch Solution is worth buying.
Perfect! So, this new book can stand alone for people unfamiliar with Dr. McDougall. That, esentially, is what I needed to know.
Thanks!
