Growing Oriental sweet potatoes??

Anyone here grow potatoes, sweet potatoes, or oriental yummy sweet potatoes?? I am new to this but would love to try! Is it difficult??? My herbs, greens and other veggies grow well , but I don't wanna mess up potato planting

Thank you! Thank you! I did read somewhere you have to 'cure' your sweet potatoes first??? Like put them in a hot, moist place for a few weeks.. ever heard of that???

I would love to grow sweet potato. It says harvesting time is 4-6 months. How can you grow this in North East, Zone 6? If you start in May, six months will put you right back into winter.

It has been about 5 weeks since my slips went in. Three have died. The remaining four are just sitting there doing nothing. I swear they haven't grown a centimeter. One plant may have grown an extra leaf or his orginal leaf got a little larger. At this rate I'll have sweet potatoes in August 2013.

Any suggestions?
