Starting out once again on my way to become healthy. Feeling excited and really wanting to make a change in my lifestyle. My health concerns are being overweight and having high blood pressure. I find when I limit my sodium to 500-1000 along with the McD diet, my blood pressure is very close to the normal ranges. Right now, I am going through some job changes and it just felt right to really commit. I plan on doing some form of exercise and meditations at night. I also have been practicing mindful eating. This involves setting the table, arranging my food to look gorgeous, and really appreciating all that I have done to nourish myself and my family. I am inspired by the following quote: “We cannot solve problems with the same level of consciousness that created them” – Albert Einstein

Welcome! Glad you're here and ready to get healthy! You will do well. I love your attitude and enthusiasm, and that quote! I also really like the way you describe mindful eating...sounds like a sense of gratitude and abundance. Beautiful!
Can't wait to get to know you and see your success. :)

Welcome, I started a new journal recently also. I really like your quote. I have tried mindful eating, and maybe I need to try that again - I found it helpful, but sort of forgot about it. Thanks! Take care, LauraA

So I pulled my back on Saturday....so I'm trying to take it easy. Just staying focused and doing it. I had a small triumph on Saturday night. My family ate ice cream and I made banana/berry nice cream in the vitamix. I am proud that I did not cave. Just taking it one meal at a time. Don't know when I'll weigh myself. Me and the scale just don't jive most of the time. I'll be taking measurements. I can already see some difference in my stomach area.
Holding steady

Great news on the stomach, I can really identify with that area needing to go down! Very sorry about the back too. that is a real bummer. What recipe do you use for the vita mix? I have one and every time I try a sorbet or icy deal it is just not very good. Way too cold, for one, and then perhaps too watery ...
Good luck!

Hi Carollynne,
I don't really have a recipe I just throw in a handful of frozen mix berries and one frozen banana. I added about 2-3 TBSP of n.f. soy milk. It came out thick and I ate it with a spoon. So this would be very cold. If you don't like cold, I would try jut putting in room temp. fruit. Mango-banana sounds good!

It has been awhile since i was back here  Started my new job at my new location and so far so good. My hours are not so great (9:30-6:30) but I am 10 minutes away from home.
My family has been very supportive in their own way. Like my sister making soup and telling me, " I just used a little oil". So I know if I want this, then I will have to do this one on my own. The funny thing is when I cook a McD meal everyone eats it and loves it. I plan to come back here and post my meals to help me.

Thanks KristyKay! This weekend was relaxing which was a nice change. Had to renew my CPR training but still had enough time to do what I wanted to do.
I receive daily affirmations by Dr. Wayne Dyer and this was for today:
Be Kind
Treat yourself and others with kindness when you eat, exercise, play, work, love, and everything else. When you think, feel, and act kindly, you hasten your ability to connect to the power of intention.

For me this is a nice reminder.
B: oatmeal w/ strawberries, coffee
L: 1/2 cup black beans, green salad w/ bell peppers, cucumbers, baked potatoes
D: green salad, steamed squash, bean soup, brown rice
