Hi Jeff,
Just watched your video ( Caloric Density ) and found it quite interesting.
I have a question for you.

I have been told by a doctor that I am pre-diabetic,won't eating vegetables and fruit as my primary food categories, send my blood sugar levels through the roof ?

Thanks,
Ron M.

Blood sugar responses to food are a symptom of diabetes &/or insulin resistance

For those who are pre-diabetic, I recommend following the principles of the Maximum Weight Loss Program.

I'm not sure how serious you are, but if you are legit, check this out for starters!

I don't think so. If you exercise, which you should be doing anyway, and eat a very low fat, low animal protein diet, you will keep your blood sugar under control. My own blood sugar is in the seventies and eighties (normal) after twenty years with T2, no meds. Of course, losing weight on any diet will improve blood sugars. However, read Atkins book, Dr. Atkins Nutrition Breakthrough, in which he says that many of the diabetics on his diet "adjust" to the diet and their blood sugars start rising. So he (Atkins) advises them to add millet and other grains to their diet. So there you have it from the horse's mouth. Fat in the diet and fat on the body cause insulin resistance and sugars rise. A low carb diet might make your sugars low in the short run but a high meat and fat diet ultimately will lead from pre diabetes to diabetes. I know it might seem counterintuitive but fruits and vegetables will normalize insulin and blood sugar. Listen to Atkins if you don't believe Dr. McDougall or Dr. Fuhrman or Jeff Novick.
