That was probably it. Around here I know if there is no compliment, and they are all quiet and not very talkative they aren't enjoying what I made.
It just made me think of some of the times I made a new recipe (like a soup or stew) for my family and put bread out with it, and they ate a ton of bread with added butter and hardly any of the recipe and I couldn't understand what was the matter with it - here I was having 2-3 serving of it, lol.

I would get so annoyed with them all, cause usually they do enjoy the things I make ie beans, yams, salads etc. but it's a game of Russian Roulette with new recipes around here.
You are fortunate that you don't have a big family to cook for - we do a lot of separate meals here but dinner's usually on me.
Around here, when I cook I announce it. I say, "I cooked!" and then I turn around and make them all pat me on the back. I really deserve a medal.
My husband is always grateful when I cook and almost always compliments my cooking and eats a lot of it. (Sometimes he even likes the food more than I do.) My eldest daughter eats like a bird and is quiet by nature and won't say much even if she loves or hates the food. With my youngest, if she's not whining and complaining too loudly, then we're all doin' good.
