I will be having Easter dinner with my family -- you know, ham, mashed potatoes, etc. Before I could volunteer, my SIL asked if I could bring some fresh veggies, to which I said SURE! I have never been a veggie "dipper" -- it makes no sense to me why you would want to dip veggies in anything, but I realize that I am the odd one out to think that way. At Christmas, I took veggies with WHAT?? no dip. My SIL rolled her eyes and promptly took out one of the tubs of sour cream to make a quick dip because who doesn't bring dip for the veggies?? So, I am thinking of conforming (a little) and taking a dip with the veggie plate. But, since I am not a dipper, I have no clue where to begin. Anyone have a good dip recipe that will travel "under the radar" and they will think is just good without asking what's in it?

Thanks!

Sharon

I like hummus and peanut dips with veggies. (Mary's peanut tofu sauce is really good!)

There is a link at the top of the Food & Recipes section to an index of Mary's recipes and there is a dip and sauce section.

Maybe you would like something listed there?

Thanks, Lynn. Hummus might be a good choice. Since I am not a dip person, I don't even know what to look for in the recipe sections...

I did a dip of silken Tofu...I choose the firm....blend with chopped garlic, chives, a chopped red pepper and some lemon juice.....dip away....add garlic slowly...I added too much once...some loved it some didn't.....

Hummus is always a winner at any gathering I take it to. Here is my recipe:

HUMMUS
1 15-oz. can chick peas, drained and rinsed
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons tahini (you can certainly leave this out for a fat-free version of this dip)
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon crushed red chili flakes (omit if you don't want the spiciness)
1/2 teaspoon salt (this can be left out, too)
Water, enough to get the consistency you like (maybe 1/2-3/4 cup?)

Put everything into the food processor or a Vitamix and blend. The water is added as you are blending. Start with a little and keep adding until it reaches the consistency you like. Because it does not contain any added oils, the hummus will thicken as it sits. This is fine, just stir in water to get it to a nice dipping consistency.
