I know, strange question :D but I feel like I am going about 100 times a day...which is definetely not true.
But I am definetely going 10 or more times......even though I am not drinking that much water (6 to 8 cups ). We have almost every day a soup, which ads water to me :D .
Is that normal or not?
I must ad that we are driving around a lot so I take the chance to go when I can, even if I don't have to go urgently......but I never know, when I have another chance

I was worried a few years back that I might have an enlarged prostate. Thankfully that was not the case, but I still have the urge to urinate more than 12 times a day, on average. But now I suspect it's the volume of water I am drinking in my tea that keeps me full and keeps me headed to the restaurant on a very regular basis. Nighttime is also bad, as I seem to make a run to the restroom every few hours.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8604961

Excerpt:
CONCLUSION: Most awakenings from sleep attributed by our patients to pressure to urinate were instead a result of sleep disorders, particularly sleep apnea. The fact that patients do urinate once awake likely contributed to faulty post hoc reasoning and might have limited further inquiry by patients and their physicians in clinical settings into the actual sources of awakening from sleep. Even in those patients with well-known medical reasons for noctruria, Sleep disorders were still found to be the source of almost all awakenings from sleep. Patients were extremely poor judges of the reasons they awoke from sleep. The diagnosis of a sleep disorder should be seriously considered whenever a patient reports frequent awakenings from sleep to urinate.

if you are losing weight you will have to go more.

of course if you have any suspicion of diabetes or urinary tract infection you will need to be tested.

Nighttime isn't the problem for me, I may go once or twice and I wake up because I am hot (just starting menopause).
During daytime is when I feel I am constantly having to pee, and it is not just the urge, I pee... a lot :D

10 times is completely normal, 12 is also normal. Below 8 times is dehydration. ;)

I walk for an hour, twice daily. I notice that I feel a need to urinate more frequently when I am upright. I always urinate immediately before, half way through, and shortly after a one-hour walk. Part of that, ironically, might be anxiety in not finding a restroom along the walk, but I suspect that being upright and moving might affect it too.

When I am home and working at my desk, I urinate much less often -- perhaps once every hour and a half or two hours. At night I wake with a full bladder about every two hours.

I drink no tea, coffee, fruit juice, or other liquid in a cup or glass. I do often eat stews and I eat a lot of fruit (including watermelon). That is where the water is coming from. The urine is nearly clear.

Great topic. It seems I pee a lot but I tend to drink water in the evening before bed. I just seem to need it then so I drink it. Water is the only thing I drink with the exception of a couple cups of tea in the morning.

Who even knows what the volume is when they urinate? I don't pee into measuring cups to figure this out but I bet some people wait longer before they feel the need to go and urinate a higher volume than others.

Seems like a rather arbitrary statement. The thirst drive seems pretty reliable to me compared to the hunger drive. When you are thirsty you drink. And your body knows pretty quickly when it's had enough.

Arbitrarily forcing myself to drink 8 8oz glasses of water a day so that I'm urinating 12 times a days seems silly to me.

I probably go 6 times a day sometimes 7.

Keep in mind that folks eating whole foods, esp. whole vegetable foods, take in more water than SAD eaters. Veggies and fruit are a high % water. :)

Wowza, I never imagined people could pee so much... how do you survive long school/work days? A lot of times I'm in situations where having to pee so often would be a definite challenge/obstacle. I usually pee when I get up -although it's not always terribly urgent- and then once or twice some time during the day, then before I go to bed (again, not always urgent) and then once in the middle of the night (despite the quote above I'm confident it's not a sleeping issue since that's the time I usually seem to have the fullest bladder to the point of waking up squirming -there's no holding it at that point!).

If I'm dehydrated I feel the need to go more often... if I have to pee a small amount it's always very concentrated. I can definitely comfortably hold a much larger volume of clear urine.

My problem is, that I am really never thirsty....but I feel better when I drink water/tea and I don't get leg cramps in the night either.
I could go all day without drinking and not feel thirsty!

After posting my reply I kept tract of the number yesterday...9. One more than I thought. With the cost of toilet paper I've been thinking of ways to reduce that number  But I doubt that will happen.
