I have not seen any discussion about this, but they are no calorie, no sugar, no oil. I use the salad dressings, and the maple syrup is pretty okay too.

Most of their product line tastes a bit like a chemical experiment, so I don't like to use them.

Hopefully these are okay.

Appreciate the input. THANKS.

they are probably not MWL compliant(nothing processed)....personally..I would leave them alone...just look at the ingredients  nothing good there

I found a dressing at Whole Foods Market that is delicious. Cindy's Kitchens Balsamic Vinaigrette. It's fat free, 20 calories per 2TB. It's refrigerated in the produce dept. All the ingredients are real food.

Bragg's makes a fat-free dressing I like quite a bit. It's called Hawaiian something or other. It's got pineapple and mango and vinegar. It's kind of sour, but I find it has lots of flavor as opposed to some other fat-free dressings I've found.

That Bragg's sounds good. I'll have to see if I can find it.

I would like to find something that does not need to be refrigerated so that I can carry it with me. Right now I carry a spray bottle of balsamic vinegar for salads and baked potatoes away from home.

Anyone have a great dressing that does not have to be refrigerated after opening?

I love the Bragg's dressings. They also have a FF berry dressing and others. My local grocery store carries them. I also have a Bragg's cookbook.

Walden Farms has been mentioned. If you do a search, you could probably find the old threads. I tried a couple of the Walden Farms dressings several years back. They were okay, I guess, but not great. I wouldn't feel bad about using them to transition from fatty stuff, but I think there are probably some better real food options (more whole food ingredients, less mystery). You just have to find the ones you like through trial and effort. Of course, if the ingredients include real foods--like sugar or fruit, as opposed to artificial sweetener like splenda--there will probably be some calories. Walden farms stuff is basically thickened water with flavor and artificial sweetener added. Right?

I've come to like salsa for a salad dressing. That's low calorie, but not no calorie. Some people like plain vinegar on salads, but that's not for me. Once in a blue moon, I whip up some tofu sour cream and use a little of that on salads, usually with salsa or hot sauce too. :unibrow: Maple Grove Farms may have some fat-free salad dressing options for you. I recently purchased the cranberry balsamic dressing to try, and it's pretty good. You might be able to put together your own versions of some of their dressings if you know the ingredients. I think I've seen a recipe for cranberry dressing made with whole cranberries floating around somewhere. I know I've seen blueberry one posted on this forum. This links to the fat-free dressings at Maple Grove Farms: http://www.maplegrove.com/content_products_sub.asp?s=4 You can click on individual dressings for the nutritional data and ingredients.

I'd think of Walden Farms as a stop-gap measure. I wouldn't want to make these products a major player in my daily diet, anyway. Mostly I'd probably be concerned about the splenda and where the "flavorings" originated. Where does egg flavor come from, anyway? :?

"Can" is the wrong word, you know. For the most part, people "can" eat what they choose. The question is "Should they?" or "Should we?" Maybe the better question is "Should I?"--because it really is an individual choice. Don't should on me. I'm allergic.

Sem antics. It's what's for supper. ;-)

Have a great day!

I use the Walden Farms dressing on my salads every day - twice a day, in fact!

It's easy to make your own salad dressings from scratch and avoid any artificial crap sneaking into your diet. You start with vinegar - whatever kind you have on hand. Balsamic, rice, apple cider, red wine. Add a little dijon or spicy mustard. Add some spices. Then add sweetener to taste: agave nectar, maple syrup, stevia, honey. Done in seconds. Last night I made the following:

2 TBS organic balsamic vinegar
1/4 tsp spicy brown mustard
dash garlic and onion powder
dash mixed Italian seasoning
dash dried chopped onion
1/2 envelope of stevia
wisk together and pour over salad
Took literally 30 seconds.
If you like a thicker dressing, pick up a bag of xanthum gum from the gluten-free section of your local supermarket. Add a pinch to whatever you want to thicken and it will thicken right up. If you find a mixture you like, just quadruple the recipe and make it up in a little mason jar and keep it in the fridge. Shake before using.

This is my favorite dressing.

I use the honey mustard Walden Farms dressing but it's pretty sweet.
The above dressing is more of a "creamy" savory dressing.

I'm curious. I just picked up a bottle of this same dressing at Earthfare a few moments ago to see what it contained. In the bottle I looked at, the number one ingredient was oil!

Obviously, I put it back.

Yes, Kate, you're absolutely right. I know I should do this. It's not like I don't already have all the ingredients in the house.

But, honestly, I spend so much time in the kitchen on the weekends making our meals (so I only have to reheat during the week), I just don't feel like making dressing, too.

Chef AJ has a dressing recipe using 4% vinegar instead of the usual 6%. Much less bitter, she says. I have some on hand, but haven't gotten around to it.

Cindy's Kitchens makes 2 different Balsamic Vinaigrettes, one is made with oil and advertized "with Omega 3's", the other is fat free, no oil in the ingredients.

Shoot! :crybaby: That wasn't one of the ones at Earthfare.

Keep checking with Earthfare, if they're like WFM they have different ones all the time. Sometimes they don't have the one I want, 2 weeks later they do. I usually buy 2 or 3 when they have them.
