Hi All,

I used to have a microwave veggie steamer, but have somehow lost it in my recent move. I'm realizing it would be very helpful in following this diet if I had one again. I looked in my local store, but couldn't find any. Then, I looked online but I don't know which brands work well. I don't even know which brand I had, but it worked great - it held about 2-3 cups of veggies, and had a little spout on top to release the steam. Any suggestions?

There are plenty of suitable and cheap options which I outline below.
I bought a microwave steamer for a friend recently for about $6 at a discount retailer.
For years I used a bamboo steamer which you will most likely find at an Asian grocer. They come in various sizes.
Lately I have been using a saucepan with steaming tray that fits within it. It was on special for $5 and is as good as any steamer I have used. What's more I think it will last much longer than a bamboo steamer.
Finally you can buy a steaming tray that you fold out and place in a saucepan.
Steaming is such a quick way to prepare delicious veggies. Moreover steamers usually just require a quick rinse after use.
