My heart rate is normal

Postby shell1226 » Sat Feb 25, 2012 2:52 pm

For the first time in years, actually since my heart attack, my heartrate was normal at the doctor's office. My bp is usually 130/80 and my heartrate is usually 45-52. That's not just at the dr, that is all the time.

I'm having allergy testing done, so they check my bp and my heart rate every week. Last week, not only was my bp 110/70, my heartrate was 80. I am so happy about that. My heart is already working better after eating this way only for a few months now.

Hi Rachelle,

I'm confused because I thought a lower heart rate was healthier. I thought 60 was pretty typical, and 80 was getting kind of in the too-high range. Did your doctor tell you that this was a healthier level?

Thx!

Hi Rachelle, congrats! Nothing better than seeing your vital numbers improve. Are doing the no-oil (no avocados, nuts as well) approach? I know it made a big difference for me too.

Goldilocks, my cardiologist didn't like that it was so low. He felt that it was not normal for me after the heart attack. If I was an athlete, that would be different, but low heart rate for me meant my heart was not performing properly.

Hey Brad. I rarely have any nuts and have not had any avocado. Dr. McDougall suggests no nuts if you have heart disease.

Forgot to mention. Normal heart rate is between 60 to 100, so this makes me very happy.

That makes sense. And I know your blood pressure is definitely better. Yay! How wonderful to get that positive reinforcement for your efforts. That's such great news. Congrats!

Thanks Patti. Through all of my health improvements, even including surgeries, I've always invisioned a great outcome and a new and improved, healthier me. I like to picture myself as I want to be and send that thought into the universe.

I am probably healthier now at 48 years old than I was at 28 years old.

I want to salute you--it's must be so incredibly gratifying to know that your new habits and way of life got you this heartrate outcome!

I appreciate it and it is extremely motivating to me because I was diagnosed with some arrhythmias about 3 years ago and went through an echo stress test (good heart function--go ahead to exercise as much as possible blah blah blah). It's just been my head and menopause that has kept me from moving forward as fast as I'd like--I continue to push. Reading an experience like yours and others here move me forward as well.

Anyway, this is your party and you must be ecstatic!

Cheers!
