I can't remember the actual percentage, but people of Celtic heritage seem to have gluten intolerance much more than others. That would be me. I am fine with giving up the wheat and other gluten foods. And on McDougall's plan I can have all the potatoes I want -- that fits my heritage profile pretty well, hehehehe

Interesting! This fits my heritage profile as well ;-) And I avoid wheat to help my arthritis. Very interesting.

Well it's been a few months now. I have to admit to an abundance of energy. I can now walk 4 1/2 miles pain free. I started the MWL last week and I am sure it's helping even more. No refined foods! I was having a few bowls of cereal before but not anymore. Cut the corn tortillas. Eating 2/3 veggies now with my starch. The caboose has left the station. Will weigh tomorrow at work. Got my giddy up back!

Gin : All sounds great! Processed foods and corn tortillas out is big too. I loved the corn tortillas. I found a good brand, then found they had added in wheat gluten to keep them soft and moist. New and improved - NOT! I think I am going to have to try the more veggies to starch for awhile and see what happens. I have been good about actually measuring but not just eyeballing portions recently. We do have to make adjustments along the way though. glad your doing so very well!!!! Michelle

Thanks Michelle! We are so individual that I do not find it a bit odd that our diets have to be fine tuned to our bodies needs. I just can't say enough about how good I feel doing this.
