Greetings,
So... I've been struggling with my weightless, well, forever. I am 37 years old and weigh 285 pounds. I've eaten mostly vegetarian since college, and discovered Dr. McDougall's Maximum Weight Loss book by accident in 2007. I was looking for a way to loose weight, and I love cooking new things, so it was a match made in heaven. at the time I weighed about 300 lbs, and was a busy doctoral candidate at the University of Arizona. Money was tight, so I was more than happy to find a way of life that allowed me to cook all of my own meals, and enjoyed preparing lunches to enjoy at school, rather than eating out with my colleagues everyday. I didn't have a lot of support, but I stuck to it, and after about six months of strict MWL eating and exercise, I lost 40 lbs. It seemed great, but the stress of school and lack of support from friends caused me to fall of track. Since than, I have weighed everywhere between the 260 lbs. and 290 lbs. I still cook mostly healthy vegan food at home, but eat fatty vegetarian elsewhere.
So, I know I have it in me to change my lifestyle. I know I can make the food I need to eat. I know all the tricks; how to adapt favorite recipes, plan meals, bring lunches to work. What missing? Well, (I think) it's the support. A community of like-minded people who I can go to when I struggle, who will help me accept my failures (I'm terrible at that).
So, here we go... comments welcome!
