Yay for you taking your own food. I am always amazed at how much oil is used in some Indian food. I had some indian friends and they did not use much oil in their food.. They were born and raised in india and moved here as adults... but still They did not have tons of oil in their food and it was tasty.

I wonder if all people are just using more and more oil as time goes on.

OF course now that I am eating oil minimum or oil free I am finding that things that I never would have thought of as oily before, are just dripping in it.

The same with the salty or sugary thing.. stuff is just covered in salt or sugar and you can barely taste the food for the salt or sugar.

Also the lack of vegetables in the american diet is TRUELY SHOCKING

OF course it took uping my own vegetables to realize this.

Right now I am using Pantene for my hair. but i use barely a drop and lather up then another barely a drop. I haven;lt been using conditioner as my hair is pretty short right now.. and since I have oily hair anyway I was only putting that on the ends anyway.

And I can not explain it but removing all the caffeine really improved my hair over all.. that and eating greens.. so that is why I think I might try the shampoo thing too. Any improvement is welcomed.

Hi Kitty,

I need to get back to beign caffeine free, but right now I have so much to do and I'm so drowsy I keep finding myself with something with caffeien in my hands. Hair loss can be caused by stress and I guess caffeine can be a stressor. Right now I'm so stressed I think I'm starting to go nuts. :duh:

I used the lush karma komba solid shampoo many years ago with no problems, however, I had short hair then too.

I have been considering going short again but I guess that has nothing to do with diet. :D

I am surprising myself lately of how I no longer say "Oh well" and eat VAD foods to just bringing them along when I have an event.

Well, they had salad, which I ate without dressing.

Meds seem to be clearing up my chest.

For now I can't look at the computer screen anymore, too much computer homework; I'm getting eyestrain.

Hey,

I see it as a good sign when you have nothing to report. I usually buy my salsa at the store. They make a salt-free one with tomatoes, onions, jalopenos, and garlic. I buy it about once a week. It's pretty cheap too and they make it none mushy which is how I like my salsa. More like a pico de gallo (sp?) Hope you are having a good evening :D

After going through one round of anti-biotics I was getting bad chest pain. Turns out the antibiotics didn't work. Now I'm on stronger anti-biotics and I am feeling really sick. Then I catch a stomach flu. It's just not my month.

So second round of anti-biotics ALMOST worked, but I am still feeling a little sick. I have a doctor's appointment friday.

I am still sticking to the plan. I have been enjoying avocado and hummus to help keep my weight up. I am making my favourite soup (See my latest post in the "Vegan Slow Cooker" thread in Food and recipes. I absolutely love it! (Especially with a little avocado! :unibrow: )

Still struggling with this chest infection. I am trying yet another kind of antibiotic. This time, however, it is making my stomach quite upset.

I am looking forward to time-off coming up. I plan on relaxing and really getting into eating healthy as the holidays approach. Not that it's hard for me since I can't eat anything anyone makes anyways.

Have you tried taking Gluten out of your diet? I was having chest infections and ear infections a lot till I did.

I have been GF for 7 years now. So, I don't think that is what's causing this, but thank you for suggesting it!

Things are still going well. I have a new book that talks about inflammation and diet, it's really quite interesting. As soon as I get further in the book I will definitely try the ideas.

I hope you all have had a great holidays season so far.

/rant on

I am posting here so I don't yell at a colleague of mine, but also so I don't scream at the top of my lungs.

He tells me that he has started a low carb diet. He says that he misses carbs.

I propose to him a low-fat, unprocessed foods diet.

He proceeds to tell me that "He's lost 8 pounds in seven days", and "Atkins is backed up by science".

I'm going nuts.

I'm going to eat some CARBS.

/rant off

Thanks for listening.
