I don't believe it has been but everything in it still holds true. He does have a new book coming out soon believe it's called Starch solutions.

But the basic information is the same. It is just some of the foods listed, like FF salad dressings, are no longer available.

In the MWL book, it also suggests the use of canned beans/legumes. Even the organic once contain more than 300ml of sodium!!!

I need to lose more weight due to HBP and heart/CV issues. I suppose I am better off just soaking legumes over night and then cooking them, no?

You can rinse the canned beans to get rid of some of the salt, or cook dried beans.

You can also buy reduced salt or even no salt added beans. They tend to be pricier, but worth it if you really need it. It doesn't have to be any one brand as long as they follow the principles, like no oil or animal parts:)

Yup -- Eden food canned beans and Pomi tomatoes all contain NO added salt at all. That's all I use.

Where I live I don't have those options but I do get the"O" organics at safeway which have a lower sodium contennt about 120 to 130 depending on teh type of bean and i always rinse them now.
Also if you check the safeway brands the low sodium ones tend to be very low also.

You just have to take a little extra time to look at the backs and hunt them out.. or if you are lucky you live in a town with teh eden or Pomi stuff.

I recently asked a question in Jeff's forum about the Eden canned beans, but haven't heard anything back from him yet. I know he was quite concerned about the very high iodine levels in those Eden beans, but wasn't sure if they're back on his "OK" list.

I get low sodium or salt free beans at Winco. One brand which is salt free is SunVista. They are also only .67 cents a can. Also, S&W has salt free tomatoes, they are .98 cents a can, a little pricier, but their low sodium beans are less than the tomatoes. You just have to look. Wal Mart will not carry them, except maybe the tomatoes because they dont care about our health.

I bought a couple cans of the Eden beans & rice a couple years ago. They smelled like & tasted like dog food. The kind that comes in the can, so gross. So I wont waste my money on them anymore.
