Well I am back on the Journal boards. Well I lost 1 lb. during the holiday excursion and then I gained it back. So, I am starting out at 144.6 lbs. I would have like to have lost weight, but I didn't really gain any weight though. Last year, I gained 5 lbs. during the holidays. So I am so happy with not gaining anything. I wasn't perfect, but I stuck to Mcdougall guidelines. I am glad to be back to strict eating again.

E: 40 min. lifting heavy weights ( I am lifting heavier with my husband and have been pretty sore, but it feels good), 30 min. elliptical- I may do more cardio later with my daughter

B: 3/4 c. pumpkin pie oatmeal, herbal tea
L: leftover split pea soup over hashbrowns, salad
S: apple, maybe a few almonds
D: thai salad, sweet potato
S: banana ice cream

Thanks, Rosey. Hugs to you too. I have really been struggling with my mind set resently. I know that the protein hype in the fitness industry is ridiculous. A lot of times I think it is just a fad. Whereas I know that there has been research and numerous studies of healthy starched based diets. I had some testing done a couple of weeks ago. I can't remember what it is called but they use accupressure points to test electrical impulses in your body. I trust her, because she has tested me and some of my kids before and she is right on with her testing. I don't tell her anything. Like she said my pancreas was low and asked if I had diabetes. I said no, but that my body can not process sugar at all. She said that was probably it. She also told me that my thyroid was a little low, which I suspected and that my liver was low and that I needed a little more protein. She does believe highly in a high fiber diet. So anyway I started adding more plant based proteins in my diet. I don't think it is nececcarily bad, but I have been adding peanut butter and some almonds here and there. I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't lost anything either. I am starting to feel better, but don't know if it is a mental thing or not. But I start to question if that extra plant protein will help my preformance when lifting weights, because I am now lifting heavier. This is all messing with my mind.

E: 1 hr. x-biking
B: 3/4 c. pumpkin pie oatmeal
L: thai salad with a few pieces of tofu, leftover split pea soup
D: green smoothie
S: sweet potatoes, orange

The doctor is decreasing her predisone. I do believe that this diet is helping her a lot.

B: 3/4 c. pumpkin pie oatmeal
L: costa vida salad
S: apple, 3 rice cakes( 1 with pb), a few almonds

I have been noticing that I feel skinnier latley and a skirt that I have been wanting to fit in feels loser, but the scale doesn't show a change. I was wondering if I was building more muscle do to lifting heavier. I am going here in a few minutes to workout with my oldest daughter. We will be doing legs and some cardio. I like getting a chance to workout with her.

E: legs weight lifting, at least 45 min. of some cardio

B: 1/2 c. pumpkin pie oatmeal
S: 1 plain rice cake
L: leftover red and black bean enchiladas, salad
S: apple
D: black bean burgers, broccoli, maybe some sweet potatoes
S: banana ice cream

hi Cathy :) nice to see you

As always, your exercise routine is amazing to me. I need to work my way back up to good exercise. Something that doesn't hurt my foot. like ZERO impact.

keep on going

I slept passed my alarm today. I planned on working out at 5:30 am this morning. But I slept in until almost 8 am. I must have needed the sleep was all I could figure.Oh well I will work out later today. I am praying about whether to add more green smoothies into my daughters diet or not. I guess I just want to see her totally healed of her arthritis. I do have her on this type of diet, but a couple of days ago, my daughter took her out to eat and gave her tacos without cheese but with meat in it. She struggles with this diet thing a lot. Last night at church we caught her buying a candybar. We stopped her and told her she couldn't have that. So she gave it to someone else, but proceeded to throw a fit. I talked to her later and she asked me if I got jealous about what I couldn't eat when around other people. I said,no not really, I feel sorry for those other people they are filling their bodies with unhealthy foods, that will hurt their bodies. I hope it helped her. Church is the hardest. I talked with one mom who has kids with food allergies and she said that she wished they could totally do without snack " like kids are going to die without eating for two hours" ( that was her response). I totally agree. My husband teaches the teens and as rewards he is constantly buying candy. It drives me crazy.

E: weight lifting( chest), cardio- at least 45 min.
B: 1/2 c. pumpkin pie oatmeal, herbal tea
S: carrots, a few olives
L: leftover hashbrowns, salad, 1 slice cornbread
S:apple
D: strawberry mango salad, baked potatoes
S: if hungry banana ice cream

Thanks, Carollyne.Good to see you.
I have been having a fairly good day today. I don't have a lot of the staples I need so I need to get some more. My oldest daughter asked me what to eat to help her lose weight. She said she wasn't going to give up meat. I told her that was fine, but to add lots of veggies and starches like rice and potatoes and at that they are filling and if she eats those first she will be full and not eat as much as her entree. I think she appreciated the advice. Now I just wish I could lose the last bit of my weight that I need to lose. It is not much left to lose, but it is sticking to me like glue. I know I need to increase my starches and make sure I fill up on veggies first which I am working to do.
As you can see from my food plan that I need more filling starches but I was out of easy ones for lunch today.

E: 50 min. elliptical, lifting heavy for bicep and tricep
B: 3/4 c. pumpkin pie oatmeal
L: 4 rice cakes with refried beans, salsa and a little avacado, strawberry mango salad
S: cutie, a few almonds
D: stirfry with brown rice
S: banana ice cream

Hi mtns:

Just had to say how happy I was to hear this good news! I know it's really hard for kids to give up all the junk that their friends "get to have", but how huge is it if she can be off or reduce those drugs. I haven't read the literature for those recently, but it seems everything has side effects! So, I hope you can prevail with keeping her on track & I'll think the good thoughts for you on that :)

When my oldest daughter was about 3yrs. old I started eating a vegetarian diet and then mostly vegan. She has grown up around my healthy eating stuff. Of course for a while I was an unhealthy vegan. But she knew I never agreed with dairy or meat. Then she got old enough and took off on her own and started eating whatever she wanted to. She ended up gaining weight, which she is still trying to take off and getting sick a lot. I keep telling her to stay off of dairy, it made her sick when she was young. She would get ear infections all time. But she doesn't always listen to me. I would like to say I am perfect with my kid's diet. And when they are at home, we do really good. I am not as strict with teens as I used to be when they are away from home. But I figure, I have taught them how to eat healthy and my 18 yr. old knows that when she feels icky it is due to what she eats.
Well gotta go take daughte to dentist
