from the story:

"It's not lost on Cook that Sea World--home to the famous Shamu whale--was the surprising birth place of his weight loss journey. The 16-year-old was on vacation with his family in the summer of 2006 and wanted to swim with dolphins. Unfortunately, the staff had trouble finding a life vest to fit him. Humiliated, he realized he needed to make a change."

Young Darrin lost 175 pounds! :-D

Do you have a "moment of truth" to share? :?:

My moment of truth came on a flight to Florida for a chemistry conference in Orlando. First, getting into the seat was a challenge, then I had to strain to get the seatbelt fastened. I was too proud to ask for an extender, so I squeezed the belt under my belly and over my legs. It's a wonder I didn't get a blood clot! That was a real wake-up call. Later in the conference, they were giving away free mugs with your picture on them. When I saw my picture stretched across the front of the mug I nearly cried. God, I never realized just how fat I was until then. I threw the mug away when I got back to my hotel room. Now I wish I had kept it as a reminder of the moment that finally triggered my new life.

I guess we can also refer to this as the "a-ha moment!" Mine just came after 2 months McDougalling, when my cholesterol dropped 64 points! I couldn't be happier. I still have work to do, but seeing such results in a short period of time. All I can say is wow!
