Hi again, well it is the first day of deer season, and wow is the weather ever cooperating on this day for all the hunters. My DH is not going out today, as he has no time off to take, and so.... off he went to work as usual. We have had record rain lately (again) and it seems as though that may have added to our problem with drainage all together. Jeesh, it just never ends with a house. I may have to fast all day today as toilets are not working well.... and no laundry either...
I had such a nice day yesterday with my oldest son, and avoided teh food court too! He wanted me to get a bite to eat, and so in looking around there was one place with a $5 baked potato with all kinds of fat added on top and a salad at one place... I just wanted to get back home to my pumpkin soup and brown rice. which we did. what I brought along really saved me though! a container of cherry tomatoes in the car and then a baggie of carrot rounds in my purse... so I would not be so tempted at the candy displays or the food (shall I say the fat) court of all that greasy, gloppy messy food, as the call it anyway... Hey does anyone remember that little ditty song that went like this: great big glops of greasy grimy gopher guts, mutilated monkey ________ something something.... that is all I recall? anyone know the rest of the song??
today I am up early, and need to rest, but can't so many family issues going on right now, and I need to not worry about anyone of them. I want to concentrate on my health only, and being happy about a wedding taking place. Oldest son is really eating more meat now and then. He is not such a helper in my WOE when he does that. but that is life, I need to just do this myself. Lead by example. I got a few compliments this weekend too, from DIL to be , she mentioned as she gave me a hug, that I was just so tiny!! Me tiny?? I need to stay the course for myself, not for compliments of course, but they sure do help out!
So far today, I had only a cup of herbal tea, plain. I will be going to the fitness center today, and will love that water today.

Plan for today, had my tea, and a banana already

BF oats with apple and cinn
L: veggies soup and brown rice.. romaine salad
D: more of the same soup, and cauliflower, steamed up.

It was just so surreal to have to watch my Dh and son eat their cheese steak hoagie and listen to how drippy and greasy it was, and think, duh? what do you think it was going to be??

ok, I did get to teh fitness center, and did my machine routine and got on the easy strider as soon as this other man was off, finally!! I thought he was never going to be done, but after all he was doing the best he could, slowly, and I need to be patient waiting. but I did do it all, got in the water next and that is soooo good for my knees and my whole body really. then it was the steam room and that helped my sinuses and I got home by 11 am! son and I went to the Amish store and I racked up some more good bargains. I found 3 bags of the Lunburg brown rice, 2 lbs for 1.75 2 were balsmatti and one short grain brown. I now have plenty of brown rice for a while again. So many neat finds there.... plus got some more baby golds and small red onions, and 2 lrg cans of the organic canned toms. More carrots, and some grapfruits even.
When we got back I finally had my steel cut oats for lunch. for a snack after shopping I had brought along some carrot rounds and an apple.
dinner was a nice green salad for all 3 of us, Dh and son both seem to appreciate it too. I used some romaine and iceburg and some carrots, shredded brocc and toms and cukes. My dressing was only bals. vinegar. nice.
Had some tension tamer tea also from the Amish store, got it was 1.25, the box a bit crushed up, but who cares?
Have a good eveing to all!! keep on keeping on!!

Hi Carollynne,
Looks like you're doing great! I totally admire you for persevering to get to the gym. I've recently taken up my morning walks again. I'm living in Israel at the moment with my folks and the weather has been gorgeous - blue skies but a tad chilly so it's not too hot (summer time here is horrible because of the heat and humidity, but that's what you get for living in the Mediterranean :D). So it's nice to go walking every morning. I used to be a huge gym hog when I lived in San Francisco but gaining 55 pounds in the last year has made me very self-conscious.

Keep at it!

Djuna

Thanks D'juna!! for your very nice words, I think it is great that you are doing all you can and being with your parents as they age is a great thing to do!! You will lose it all! I am trying like mad to not gain any with all my overeating I am doing all of a sudden. All vegan, but still, too much of it!! and some junkies too.
I will get a handle on it again... I will I will...

Hello!! well yesterday was a disaster, and I will be ok today. I had to leave early for a mammogram and did not have time for my oatmeal, which has become my saving grace lately. I need that in the morning!
so off I went with a half an apple, and after the mammo I also went by the Giant to get my greens, some more kale, as that store has the best in the area, and bought myself a small green salad, and even munched on that before the gym.
I did my machines, then the pool exercises, and was feeling so good. Finished up the green salad sitting in the locker room, plain no dressing at all. As I was sitting there, one of the ladies came in to get a little energy bar thing, and said that she was feeling a bit off, and one of the instructors who was in there said, "don't you have sugar?" Now this lady I would never have guessed was diabetic at all. Not real heavy and so active! but yes she does. More resolved then ever to never get that disease... by avoiding all animal products completely. I am happy with all my food choices I just eat too much of them if there is a sugary something there in the meal choice!
then at home again, I walked the dog around the whole yard, front and back, like 4 times. Back inside it was a bowl of my yummee cauliflower veggies soup ( a creamy cauliflower from the E2 book) with some red rice. Also made up a nice big romaine salad with toms and cukes... and the only dressing was bals. V. All was well, until I got the sweet munchies again.
for dinner I was making up all the left over T Day stuff for Dh and for myself I used a freezer selection of I had picked up to try in an emergency. I think the stuff gave me a bad time in the tummy... But I had 2 baked potatoes, with the TPV and some rice other veggies thrown in too. Yummee.... No more of my fav sweeties from that Amish store, even if they are vegan! too much sugar is a real trigger for me to eat forever and ever and a day.
Today I am not going to do that to myself.

Don't know if it would help you but my father in law when he gets a sweet tooth has been grabbing 2 dates and eating them. He has been thanking me for changing the way he eats. He tried to eat salty oily chips last night and only ate 2 of them because he decided they were to salty. He has yet to leave stuff completely alone that isn't on plan so still getting him there.

Great couple of days lately... weahter is good, and I am geting outside a lot to do more yard clean up and walk the dog at the park.
my BF has been teh same for ages now, fruit and steel cut oats. I flatly refuse to eat out for BF and Dh has stopped asking me to go , there is nothing I can out out there!! He finally got it!
But today I had my usual BF, and added some pots to that. Then DS and I went out to shop and look around at trees, and then we did have a diet Chinese lunch out which was steamed veggies, and for me some pineapple and then the only thing it was white rice and did not like it at all!
home I had a huge green salad, and also some cooked kale with added veggies, and some mustard for flavor. Not a bad day at all!
Tomorrow is Dh birthday and we are going to a community holiday concert, that is free will offering and I have always wanted to go to the this one. Just want the weather to be good for it!

not a bad day after all!! I decided to get weighed and taped again at the fitness center to get a better handle on my wt and progress, and here I had gained back 4 lbs. but will do it again!! I did a lot of exercising too, the bike for 17 min, the strider for 11, the machines and then the pool too. I even walked the dog 3x along around and around the yard.
I saw a old friend today at one store, and she gave me the highest compliment, said I looked terrific, what was I doing? said my face is so much thinner and and I looked like I had lost wt!! nice things to hear. I will do this. and not back slide any further!! I think it is the bread that I really need to avoid completely.
I have been listening to Dr Essy's DVd on the Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease seminar that he gave for patients and it is great! well worth it, and has a ton more than the book, which I have and read and and reread too.
BF was my steel cut oats and some apple, cinn
L: sweet potato soup with quinoa, and kale
snack, German cookies, a big no no!!
why do I do this and always end up regretting it big time?

D?? plan on a salad!
Tomorrow is a new day!

Oh no the COOKIES ---I had some too this week. Just a couple though. We'll get back on track the last few days I have been a complete angel. Your exercise sounds right on - working on getting that back up myself. Keep going strong :-)

yes, and I am about cured of them again. no darn good for me at all!
this afternoon I am going to the DAR high Tea,as it is called, and will have to be the one one not eating all the goodies, altho quite a few of them are diabetic too, so they will not be eating it either.
BF: a cilantro tropical smoothie with kale and flax too. Steel cut oats and blueberries and a banana!! the drink was so good! and I do feel as though I have enuff nutrition after Bf some some days.
today my goal is no breads!! and to go to this DAR Christmas get together and no matter who says what to me, I will not partake of the goodies, that will ravage my vessels!!
thanks Imggallagher for your encouragement, this time of the yr, altho any time really I am so tempted... usually I was teh cookie monster in the bunch, and not anymore!! why?? who knows, I do get so tired of the whys and the why- nots, so I need to just remember what Dr M and Dr Essy say about diet healing our bodies of what is wrong with them...
wish me luck!!

well the Sunday high tea DAR mtg went great!! I made myself very usual by helping to serve the tea and coffee, thereby avoiding the goodies on the plate at my seat. It was a prefect solution if you ask me, then I also helped with the clean up and told everyone that I was taking my plate home. i ate the grapes and the cuke slices off a open face sandwich, and brought my own sparkling water!! It was a mild sunny day, and wonderful to see all of the ladies and altho they know I am a odd ball eater, no one else really minds or says much about it anymore ..... I like to be usual anymore, instead of just sitting around and gabbing too. One lady mentioned her granddaughter is severely lactose intolerant and will end up in the hospital after ingesting even the tiniest bit of whey or mild product in the rinse water at a restaurant!! wow, poor thing, she is only 9 now...
I love getting out to these mtgs we do a lot of service projects and the food can get too tempting, but meat is just not anymore. Now the bread is still........
anyway, then after the mtg I dropped off my plate of goodies to a friends who had 3 boys and they loved it all!! I Knew if I brought it home I'd be sorry......
love this good weather sure wish it could continue! but it surely will not!
