Hello all,

I have a question about gaining muscle. In October, after starting up the MWL again I lost 10lbs in that month. Now, this month I have not lost anything, YET I can see that I have. I would be inclined to totally believe the scale if it were not for this observation. So my question is could I have gained enough muscle in these past few weeks to offset any fat loss I may have had?

Thanks.

I can't say from a medical/scientific standpoint but I would think that would be possible. I know for me I have been losing fat and not as much weight as I would like but my pants are starting to fall off of me. I cycle a lot and can see the muscle gain especially in my legs.
If you lose one pound of fat and gain one pound of muscle you made progress but will still weigh the same.

Thanks for the input. I guess I will just kind of ignore the scale, and go by how my clothes fit and what I can actually see.

It would be nice though if my scale could confirm what I see. :)

It will, it just takes time. I started with the mindset that I didn't get this heavy over night and I won't get rid of it over night either.
I have been making progress and my weight is going down but slower than I thought it would.

I think it is important to weigh yourself at the same time, with the same conditions, to get consistent feedback. The bodyweight also fluctuates throughout the day. If you weigh yourself in the morning one day and the next time in the evening, then you might not get accurate feedback. And it is possible to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, especially if you are a beginner, but it is not very likely. If you really want to be sure, you can also take your body fat measurements.
