thanks - actually doesn't feel bad at all. I noticed that there are a few 50+++ in the group. Do have to say my reaction to turning 50 was that I got extra beetroot (which is high in antioxidents) at the markets on the weekend  The veggie guy suggested not to go overboard as I may end up purple

Well, Cuz Nicki and I had a fab four days together - walking and eating and curling up on the lounge to watch the 2nd of those Twilight films. WHAT you say  Yep, only got to see a bit of the second one before realising that without screaming teenagers it is not really that much of a film. Cuz Nicki was most bored and asked for Columbo - which we watched instead.
My mate Linda is out from New Zealand as her hubbie was ill and she was not able to come to my 50th birthday bash. So spent time with her - which was great. My other mate Jenny (who has Kali as her fury child) is leaving for France for 3 months - she is finishing her book which is based on her PhD - so am walking with her for the last time this Thursday and she leave Friday monring. Will miss her heaps as we walk together on my days off and it is lovely to have company while walking (and puffing - due to heat). However, Cuz Nicki and I will see some of Kali as she may need some extra walks while Jen is away.
Cuz Nicki and I have not been sleeping to well as Sydney heats up. It looks like summer will be bl**dy hot and Cuz Nicki and I may have to venture to the antartic for heat relief  Would really love to have close contact with penguins - they are very cute and very community minded creatures.
Cuz Nicki is looking forward to having to wear his new Christmas outfit  Unlike my Cuz who made Cuz Nicki wear raindeer ears - actually she made all of us wear raindeer ears - I'm going to get him a Christmas Colar that lights up - that way everyone will see us on our evening walks.
Cuz Nicki enjoyed his breakfast this morning - I baked Chicken and mixed it with veggies and wild Salmon (which is just a name given to salmon that is pissed it got caught) and Cuz Nicki woofed it down in less than 30 seconds flat. Although a huge bowl, he looked at me as soon as he inhaled the food as if he was starving :crybaby: . I told him I didn't believe he was starving. His response was to roll around on the floor.
If only I looked that cute.
Cheers to all
Jan and Cuz Nicki

Hi Jan and Cuz Nickie,
Glad to hear you are both doing well.

Welcome to the over 50 club. It is Awesome.
sorry your friend will be away so you won't have her to walk with, Fortunately you have Cuz nickie to keep you on the straight and narrow of exercise LOL.

I love the idea of the flashing collar. i bet nickie will prance around with it on.

I can never sleep when it it too hot, and i also get weird dreams and night mares, so summer is not always my favorite time.

In my personal Opinion Cuz Nickie is right alout Columbo. It is a superior show to those Vampire movies, LOL

Hey there matey - Yep I think that Cuz Nicki will be quite proud walking around with a flashing colar. It is hard not being able to sleep due to heat. Nicki and I are therefore forced to watch really really bad TV in the early hours of the morning. Those programs make cockroaches look fab and like you'd want one as a pet. However, in saying that I am proud to say that Cuz Nicki did not cope with the Twilight movie which indicates to me that there is some hope for both him and me in relation to having 'some taste' left.
And good to hear Kittyadventures that I have joined you and Fijim in the 50 and over club. However, at times do get urges to buy those face creams - you know that ones that not only remove wrinkles but about 10 layers of skin
Last week was in my local coffee shop and a young boy and his mum came up to me. The boy's mum said to me and my mates that her son had thought I'd looked like (now wait for it) Jennifer Aniston. She told me because as she said if a kid had said something like that about her - she'd want to know. When she left - we all agreed (me and my mates) that the kid needs his eyes checked. I went home after that and stared at the mirror. Yep Nicki and I agree the kid needs his eyes checked. Not even my hair colour is similar to her. However, did it make me feel $1,000,000 - you betcha.
I swear Cuz Nicki puffed his chest out as if to say 'Look Jen Aniston is walking me today'.

I just love the food - as I'm really not into meat, diary etc; and I love the fact that no-one is going to lecture me on needing to get my calcium from diary. I look forward to hopefully losing about 2lbs a week from what you are saying.

ImageWell Cuz Nicki and I had a fab weekend. Our local coffee shop (which is directly opposite where we live) had its annual party - lots of food, wine and beer. Luckily the owner does wonderful salads and hummus - however his mother cooks fabulous lamb (so I am told). So given that Nicki also loves lamb, I went and got a few plates of lamb and gave one plate to Cuz Nicki, one to Chelsea, one to Okey and one to Rocko. Therefore Cuz Nicki and his neighbouring mates also enjoyed the festivities  I am sooooooooooooo in the good books with the four furies
Unfortunately it has been very hot here in Sydney - and the humidity has been bl**dy shocking. However today it is much cooler and Cuz Nicki and I had a wonderful morning walk :D
My sinus' have been playing up the last few days for the first time in ages. I have bought some medication - which I haven't really needed since becoming a McDougaller. So am not looking like Angelina Joli at the present moment. Since having sinus again have been having really weird dreams most of them concerning Nicki - nothing bad - just weird. However, when explaining the next morning to Nicki - he doesn't appear that interested unless of course I have his meal in my hand - then he watches every word I say
Cheers to all
Jan and Cuz Nicki (the belly full of lamb dog)

Hello Kittyadventures and beautiful fury critters. I think Nicki and I would love to swap countries with you - both of us don't do well in the heat and humidity. However, it is cooler today and humidity is down so we really enjoyed our morning walk.
Yep - swear his belly has stetched heaps with the bowl of lamb. However, am very smug about myself for getting the plates for Nicki and his 3 fury mates - as now in good books for these four. However, in saying that the four of them look like they are all pregnant since eating the lamb  Back to McDougalling for Nicki - more veggies.
Haven't made any more soups lately as weather is such a stinker. However did make salad and basil, tomato and cucumber dressing - basically I chopped up finely the basil, tomato and cucmber and then blended it and poured it over the salad. Nicki was very impressed - well he seemed to be however I did have his bowl on the bench at the time - maybe he was focusing with love on that

Hello all, well for those who don't live in Sydney - we've just had a number of days of very heavy rain. So heavy that the box drain I have around my kitchen (due to neighbours building up - creating box drain) overflowed which resulted in the water coming down the inside of my walls. This bewildered Cuz Nicki who wasn't sure how this was occuring. Me - well my response was to pour myself a glass (make that 3) of red wine. Luckily I have the most wonderful neighbours - and Gazza came in during a light rain period and cleared the gutter out. However, due to how next door's builders (building job happened many years ago) did the job - the box drain roofy thing is very flat - meaning that the water gets trapped. So, I got another friend (my mate Jill's husband) Andy who is a builder to come over and he is going to put a Skillard?????????? roof on which basically will allow the water to flow properly given that the box roof is totally flat creating the problem that the water is not flowing. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
However, although it was stressful and of course drinking - the kindness of my neighbours was fantastic. I now have to find $1450 to pay for Skillard Roof. However, it will then be a solved problem.
Cuz Nicki and his fury mates however were beside themselves. We had 5 days of constant rain and a couple of them were very heavy rain falls. 5 days of Cuz Nicki eating and laying on the lounge watching TV. Five days of Cuz Nicki coming in after doing an 'emergency wee' totally wet. Five days of aunty Jan drinking lots of alcohol following Cuz Nicki's contstant - 'why can't we go walking'? As I explained to Cuz Nicki - it is in asking this question that results in most of us knowing that my brain is slightly larger than his. He did not appear amused.
This week though Cuz Nicki will be at home watching TV while his Aunty jan will be at a Barrister Christmas Doo on Friday evening and at a combined 40th on Saturday evening. Now don't go thinking that I am some sort of party animal that leaves Cuz Nicki alone to watch Law and Order,
Imagethis event of having even one doo to go to let alone two occurs once every six months or so. The rest of the time, I live a boring as batshit existence (and LOVE IT).
Cheers - Jan

LOL JAN! Flat roofs just do not work well at all.
I hope you can get your roof fixed soon.
And hopefully Cuz Niki can drag you out for a stroll sometime soon LOL.

Sounds like you are going to be having a great time this week. It is the season of parties... that is for sure.

I have a cookie exchange to go to pretty soon and a holiday party the day before that.

I think I consume more alcohol from Thanksgiving through New years than the rest of the year combined. LOL.

Keep up the good work of McDougalling.
Hugs.

Hello Kitty Adventures - enjoy that Cookie Exchange (hell I may start something like that up as well - sounds fab) and have to report I think I've had more drinks since the roof incident that my 50th birthday bash
On a bright note - isn't it good to know that I can prove my brain is bigger that Cuz Nicki's  PS - He is not laughing at my response regarding brain size.
Enjoy your party - and yep this week I am a socialising winner. The fact that after this week until Christmas I will be as boring as batshit should not be considered
Do have to say that even at the parties - I continue McDougalling - except for the alcohol, however believe that Dr McDougall would be impressed with how many baked potatoes I can consume with red wine. (Its an aussie vegan party trick)
