Yes I will do this, never felt better in my life and with so many good ppl cheering me on, how can I not?
B: steel cut oats, with some apples and cinn, half of son's home made waffle, plain, made from wheat berries he sprouted and ground himself made MC Dougall style too, I had half of one, plain, and it was like eating a cookie, with the orange zest and the banana and cinn in it. who needs any sweetener thrown in with all of that flavor anyway?
going to a friend's Bday party for her 2 9yr old grandsons and I am bring a nice bean/rice and tom, celery, etc salad, called Jumping Joe Salad, so I can eat something and not be too tempted by all the SAD cake, ice cream, chips etc. not to mention other candy from teh pinata for the kids there. Should be fun to just do something with nice ppl too.
Worked outside with Dh for a while and now will go take dog for a walk...
stay on the trail of good heath!

hi I got to gym early and did a lot of exercising in pool. Knees felt a lot better. then got home to walk dog, again,a dn start in on the cauliflower big box that dear son came home with last evening... I did a lot of cauliflowers up today for soup and to eat... it was a cheap end of the season kind of box, but it was well worth the $3 he pd for it and I must have done up 15 of them, and cut off a tiny bit of the bad on some of them......
Tired tonight, and just wanted to say hi to anyone out there.
a Beautiful day here !!

Hi Carollynne!! Just reading along, I'm always inspired by how well you are doing, and how positive you are :) It's so nice that you can get produce so cheap!! Have you noticed some relief from the arthritis with this new woe?? I know that I have, but we may have different types or be triggered by different things.

HI LOri, thanks for your nice words of encouragement, I do try to at least sound positive, no matter what, and I do like this WOE... so I am doing it up good, or else I would have slunk back to the SAD world, holed up there and gave in to all my over eating tactics..... but really with all of my health issues, that I have either cleared up (gall bladder, liver, obesity, digestion etc) I do not think that I have a choice. I like that fact that I am getting better looking numbers on my lab reports, that I can walk a lot farther each time I go to the walking park with dog, shopping also at walmart, standing in lines, etc. What is the alternatives? my neighbor just had her hip replaced, is using a walker for a few more days, and she is a few yrs younger at least.....and has been hvy for yrs and yrs.
It is so hard to stick with it, but I do have some great support here with one son, and I hope to make it thru the weekend, My little brother will be here and I know I will be tempted, but will stay strong. got to go and buy a few ribeyes for him and Dh for dinner.... will not be tempted by that, but the bread, and the desserts perhaps...
well I did finish up the cauliflowers today, and made up some more of the Cole's Creamy cauliflower soup, in the Engine 2 book, and make up 3 qts of chow chow--pickled hot veggies, cauliflower, carrots and celery. and they all sealed up too. nice touch. they should go fast anyway. I have some homemade apple butter too, and it is just so sweet that now I do not like it as much...
OH, did I mention that I don't have an oven now? we need to call in a repairman, and fast, the stove top works but not the oven.... just in time, and I always make up a nice tofu loaf the meatless meatloaf, and it is good for holidays.
oh, yes to answer your ?? yes I do believe that my arthritis is a lot less now, but it is not gone either. my left hand at times is just something or other, and I know it is arthritis my left thumb. But I do think it would be a lot worse too, if I went back to animal products. It is really the HBP and it is just not going away yet... Hey my sons is doing the caffeine free thing now... he is on day 4 and doing it! never thgt that would happen here. but it is a very powerful drug and he wanted off of it! He switched to a decaf and only to keep the edge off of it. I admire him at his age to be sticking to all of this but he does feel so energized by this WOE adn I do too. I got up at 330 am this morning, and started in by grating my bar of fels naptha soap to make my 10 gal of laundry detergent again, I have done this for about 3 yrs now, and it is just so easy, I cannot stop and what a good soap it is, and the savings is good..... then I kept on doing my stuff and got to a appt, my 3 shot in left knee now is done...... the gym, walked the dog, and ate my usual stuff. no off plan foods! hurray, now with my brother here... I will have to be strong. I am meeting him at a great buffet for lunch, then he is going to follow me home and spend a few day s with us. and there are plenty of veggies there. it is the desserts that call my name... esp anything with fruit, or well you know the drill. I have to remember my poor digestion at all times, it is just too much, and I know better.....
OH,made up my brown rice again, the red potatoes, and had more cauliflower soup tonight... yummee :D :D

It sounds like you are doing so well! I hope you enjoy your brother's visit and know that you will do well with your food choices.
The cauliflower soup sounds interesting, is this recipe available on the Engine 2 website? I need to order that book soon!

oh, yes that laundry detergent is a must do!! it is really so easy and cheap that I was hooked right away.
Yes, little brother is now in Clinton,MD area and leaving on a jet plane from Regan airport this evening... sob sob, but it was great seeing him too. He showed son and I how to play cribbage the correct way too. We had to a bit off...
I did OK, food wise, but not perfect. oh well, I had bought him some baked goods like cookies, and here is not a sweets eater at all. a few of the cookies found their way into my mouth! one alwasy leads to another. being with the sad eaters is not good for me at all.
We did go to G burg and he loved it there, and plans on coming back for a longer visit to the battlefields he loved reading each and every monument plaque and sign that we came to.
but today is a new day and I will prevail, in good choices. the sun is out and I am going to get the dog walked at park.
then I just had oatmeal for Bf with berries, adn a few of my beloved reds, and then made some of the country french toast for son, and had to have some of those too. Mad DH his SAD BF, but was not tempted by that at all. icky...
oh well, tonight is a DAR dinner and I have requested a vegan meal for son and myself. He likes the historical presentations given, and so ok, will go to one more. The meal was requested and I even checked on it too. had to, becuz many times it gets communicated wrong. So I just wanted to make sure there would be no dairy or oil. We shall see is all I can say. I stress a plain baked potato is great, steamed veggies, on rice... The overwt other women will stare, and smirk, but I do not worry about their attitudes anymore. Let them eat cake!!
Well the sun is shining and I will be outside for a while today!
you all have a good day!

Yes, it went perfectly. fine, we had our vegan meal, but it was a bit oily!! We had a nice flat pasta, with a ton of veggies, and the only sauce was oil!! I ahd asked for none, but it was there anyway. Next time... I will b e ever more insistent I guess. But we also had a huge salad bolw for the buffet line, adn Ds also had their green beans and mashed pots, but I think there was some milk or butter in that. The speaker was a good one, an elec by trade and a avid local historian, who spoke for an hr wiht no notes at all. He really knew he stuff. OH, the topic of diabetes was all over our table as 2 people had it, and one was very thin, and the other was our speaker! both were eating low carb, and low fat road kill ( their words) We did not say a thing about that. why bother.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, I am on the run today, with appts and so on, but will get to the gym to exercise for sure. I will persevere and make it thru the holidays, and honestly it is no trouble anymore. I love my veggies and starches.
I had my green salad smoothie and today I thru in some flax seeds, whole, since they get so fine ground up anyway in the vita mix... plus some pomegranate seeds, from the fruit, but they are bitter!! I love my green smoothie in the am, it sets me off so well. I tell you, it is a good v 10 drink here for us. I wish I had not waited so many yrs to get my vita mix either. but that is life
BF tea, plain, green smoothie, oats with blueberries banana, oh, then one sprouted grain bagel, and had that plain too. I was too hungry this am I think.
have a good day out there to one and to all!

hey there! What a cheerful journal :)

do be completely insistent on no oil, next time ;-) That's my new "rule"

ABSOLUTELY NO ADDED OILS! ever. in or on ANYTHING.

well, my dear, looks good. I covet your $3.00 box of cauliflower. I'm down to my last four caulis in my fridge, from the two dozen I bought at .50 each at the discount grocer near me. It's been a roasted cauliflower haven around here lately, but today I might make some aloo gobi, an Indian dish using cauli, potatoes, peas and all those lovely Indian spices

so, keep on going, kiddo. You're doing great!

I always tell them I have doctors orders not to have oil in my food. Seems to do the trick.

oh, what a great idea. and my newest doctor is vegan too, so it will really be her orders too!
thanks to all, and buns, you are so right!! I must be loud and insistent about the rules.
I had a pretty good day here! nice when it all works out that way, isn't it? I had the oats for BF, and for lunch had a nice green salad, and had my green smoothie for Bf too, and for dinner, it was more of my brown rice and cauliflower mix of veggies. It was heaven for me. DH had the same, oh and some potatoes too. the golden ones.
got my oven fixed today, it only needed a new element so it was not quite an arm and a leg after all. DDs appt, and I have one fractured filling in the back of course, and must go get that redone on Friday. who likes that work done? but the alternative is worse...
I did get to the gym and must keep at my knee exercises all the time.
have a good evening to all out there.
oh, good news" Dh had the same meal tonight and loved it! At first said it was way too much, and then ate it all!

well I made it to the fitness center again this am, by 10 am. I did a lot of the machines, including the easy strider for 11 min. that one will have me huffing and puffing good. My knees were holding up good, so I went on to do more. At the end, I did the bike for 21 min. I am really doing god that that place.
but ops, I stopped by the Chinese place and got 3 meals, the diet menu for me, with only steamed brocc and pea pods, and darn it all, white rice and a plain soy/ginger sauce for it. the other 2 were from the lunch menu and had oily sauces. yuck! I did not snack in the car, as I had brought a tangerine and an apple to the gym for myself...
I mailed off a box to my little brother's kids in CA!! and did not even want to eat any of the candy I put in that box. The candy does not tempt me, it is the breads, or the rice I guess, I do love my carbs! this is the place for me then...
BF: oats and banana 2 small red potates in pan, and some plain herbal tea water.
apple and a tangerine
L brocc, pea pods, white rice and soy sauce
D: more of the chinese take out. veggies, and rice.
tea with brown rice syrup. water and that was it today!
rain most of the day too.
I made up some brown rice tonight too!

well today was a god day for me!! no kidding, I should not be so surprised but I am happy and surprised by it. I got up early, and did the dishes up, and then switched the washer stuff and dryer out, and added another load to washer too. then I got ready to get to the fitness center. I seem to be making my goal of a lot of exercise and that is nice. I do so much better when I do get to the gym. I did the machine room, and then the pool class too. I was thrilled that I could do the easy strider for 12 min, this time, and my knees seem to be ok. :-D :) :-)
all was well, food wise too. I am proud of myself today.
hope all is well with you all too!
