I am totally new at "eating healthy" Actually I am still looking where to start. I am in my very early 60th and 'normal' weight. I never had to diet to loose weight...so I ate as much as I felt like and not too healthy.
A while ago I had my cholesterol a bit high...so I cut on greasy staff and it went down. Not long ago my blood sugar was at the very high limit of "normal', so I stopped eating lots of sweets.
A few weeks ago somebody showed me the "China Syndrome" book, read half of it and it was an eye opener. Then I put my hand on a Dr. Fuhrman book and got convinced that I have to change radically my diet. More reading on the Net brought me to Dr. McDougall. I have the feeling that it is the best method of living a healthy life...but I am lost and do not know where to begin> WHICH BOOK should I read?...there are so many. I would like to familiarize myself with the method and find the required recipes. Any suggestions? Much appreciated.

Welcome Peter! I, too, found Dr. McDougall after reading the China Study. The first book Dr. McDougall book I got was the 12 day program book; recently I got the maximum weight loss book. Both of them were very good. There is so much free information here on his site also, along with hundreds of recipes!
Have you read the free program from the home page? http://www.drmcdougall.com/free.html

The best book to start would be what Blondie called the 12-day book, real title "The McDougall Program - 12 Days to Dynamic Health. Here's the Amazon page for it, but the cover I know is the last of the pictures under the book. You can also read about it here on the McDougall site in the store.

The book gives all the basics of the program and includes loads of recipes to get you started. Of course, the McDougall web site itself also has this info and lots more recipes.

And you can always buy *more* of the books later. Either new or used, at places like Half.com and Amazon and other booksellers, sometimes for as low as 75 cents plus shipping.
