My doctor has been after me for quite a while to "get on the McDougall Program!" So . . . here I am. I feel like this is my last chance and I'd better take this seriously. Biting the bullet, I signed up for the next 12-Day Program in January. Hoping to get a head start I am avidly reading The McDougall Program book. I like what I'm reading, it makes so much sense. Watching the many short clips on various subjects has also been quite an eye-opener. I have come to the realization that I CAN DO THIS!!
Twenty years ago I was still training and showing horses. My goal is to get as close to that physical condition as my age and circumstances will allow. It's going to be an interesting adventure, one that I am really looking forward to.

Sandy,
You are doubly blessed by having a doctor who is not only familiar with Dr. McDougall, but actually recommends his program. And even more blessed to be able to attend a program. There is not doubt that you can do this if you want to, and that your life will be so much the better for it. Welcome.

Wow a doctor who advocates the McDougall lifestyle! You are so fortunate and the envy of probably most of us here (definitely me) :D. And you are going to a 10 day! I'm excited for you.

Welcome to the board.

Hi Sandy,

I am new here too and really liking it. So cool you have a doctor who knows about this and will support you in your efforts. I am only in two weeks, but I really appreciate the information, food and supportive forums here. I think you'll find your doc's recommendation worthy!

When you have time, it's great to watch some Star McDougaller stories. I know that a couple of us newbies, Vanessa and myself, got some inspiring quotes from those successful & sage folks, so maybe something will click for you too.

Best wishes - Michelle

BTW Great icon photo:)

About the photo . . . that was taken in the 90's while on course cross-country at a Horse Trials down in southern California. The trials consist of three phases; dressage, cross-country and stadium jumping. The horse was named "Schnapps." He was talented, but dishonest, meaning he was capable of jumping just about anything but at times would decide (sometimes in the middle of the go-round) that he'd rather be doing something else. There are few things as thrilling as galloping on a cross-country course, even if your horse occasionally has other ideas!

Thank you for all the nice welcomes! Am excited about starting this. Went shopping for the first time with a list of McDougall foods. That was an eye opener! Was much less expensive than I thought it would be. :-D

We'll I am so jealous that you have such a progressive doctor. Mine believes in Atkins. :| I be the doc is going to be so pleased that you took this another step further and signed up for the 12 day program.

Oh a some good news for you - I think you will make your goal is you really want it. There is no age limit on being an equesterian. Just ask one of the several that are on.

I do have a confession to make. The reason my doctor is so supportive of the McDougall Program is because he is Dr McDougall's brother!
