Good points there blondie, but we got the exact same target weight 150! Cool huh! Brings a whole new meaning to be the saying "you are what you eat" - we gonna be our 150 pound bags of potatoes! Hopefully, without the lumpiness.

This is the first diet I could have all the potatoes I want. Irish girls just have got to have our potatoes, but I'm with you I don't want to carry the suckers - just eat them. ;-)

   Yeah, let's carry the taters and set down the butter -- when I hit my 50 lbs. lost mark, I actually played around on Paintbrush and pasted 50 pictures of one lb. blocks of lard on the page, then made that my Facebook profile picture for the week! "A picture is worth 1000 words!" :D

Hey blondie - oh, good visual. Once you've done that you can't help but know that's EXACTLY what you're doing going forward! Loose the lard!

Your weight loss chart is always inspiring to me, we have the same TARGET 150 and as of today you have LOST and I need to loose 68 pounds!

OK, that does mean that I did a daily weigh in, my bad :(
But here I am exactly on the dread 218 for punishment!

I have got to get past that number and then I'll weigh less often, really I will, hahaha.

Thank you for your kind words! This "diet" is so awesome - -who knew you could eat your fill and still lose weight?!

Michelle, don't tell anyone but I have a hard time staying away from the scale too! :o I've been a dieter all my life and some habits are just so hard to break!

Actually, not feeling to well today, as if I am coming down with something. Sometimes bugs catch me when I have been through a period of insomnia, and boy was I last week! How unfair, since I am just loading myself with good nutrition!

I am so zoned out I can't even remember what I had today for food! Hmmm...

B - nothing, which is rare for me
L - potato, garden salad and tomato soup with veggies
S- apple
D- potato, Black Bean Pumpkin Soup
S - Banana

No exercise, I'm just too whacked for that. It's going to be early to bed. I'll take the McDougall MWL book with me though :)

I found the October Weigh in Challenge and can't wait to sign in on that tomorrow. Hopefully, it won't be the last week I loose weight!

End of Week One:

No weight loss from yesterday. I am still at 218 and hate being on this ride again. Feel a bit better today, but can tell that now I am limited to two fruits, well, things are not moving as well. So I'll have to up the raw veggies I think. Yesterday because of not felling well, tummy wise particularly, I didn't put enough fiber into the menu. I'll work on that today!

All and all I am happy as I:
~lost 3.5 lbs. my first week,
~received my MWL book
~read a couple chapters of MWL book
~cooked my first recipe from it yesterday
~liked the first recipe :-D
~walked 3 days this week = 5 miles total, (huge haven't been able to do this in a long time)
~met some nice, helpful & fun people in the forum :)
~ enjoyed the heck out of everyone's progress & feeling the pain some when folks have hurdles to overcome
~got great advice on a sleep solution, which may be WORKING.

I am really glad I came here to do this; it's not about just the weight, it's about learning a whole new lifestyle, with people who have gotten there and more like me who are going there. Pretty cool

Food:

B - oatmeal
S - apple
L - salad/mixed vegetable + soup
S - tortilla +dab of rice & beans + hot sauce
D - Vendanta Lentil Stew
S - banana

Last night's McDougall soup a keeper!
Tonight's Lentil Stew - not so good good blend of nutrition (lentil, potato, spinach) but still a bit bland. May be one of those things that improves by the next day.

Oh and I'm glad you're feeling better. :)

Hey blondie thanks so much for noticing & summing up my first week progress, I really appreciate it!

Boy it looks so good the way you presented it and I was happy with a good first week.....

...and then I completely messed up yesterday and gained an entire pound from my blunder!

This is pretty typical for me: going along good, planning pretty well and hitting a snag and bailing, because I am tired, hungry and in pain. When those things stack up together I completely crave sugar and that's exactly what I did. My ultimate sin food is Ben & Jerry's Half Baked Fro Yo. And my confession today is that I ate the whole thing!

So I did plan well: I have been reading eri's journal, where she is getting this together to get through eating out and family gatherings. So I have taken from that -- eating before going and taking something of your own that fills the bill.

So yesterday, I had an all day sit down work convention to go too. I had to leave home and drive into the City at 6AM and be there until 5 PM, with my return home likely to be 7 PM or later.

I took a salad and leftovers for my lunch, a really filing new MWL recipe. I used to eat leftovers of a similar recipe all the time, but it turns out this MWL meal cold is visually and taste-wise completely unappealing. In fact I couldn't gag down but three bites. Plus, having sat in a metal chair all day the fibro was just terrible! By days end I was tired, hungry and in pain. When this happens my drug of choice is sugar in the form of B&J fro yo, which I bought on the way home and had for dinner!

Fair enough - I gained a pound; when I had hoped to loose and get slightly under my dread level of 218. So, I will eat today completely on program and hope by end of week this coming week I am under the dread 218.

I think for the pain level I am in now, exercise will be limited - maybe swimming only until I recoup. But I am really excited to get back to walking I hope, maybe more at the end of the week. Then like everyone else, I think the only hurdle will be Thanksgiving.

I have an email invite from my Cousin Tod in my in basket. He cooks the recipes his Mom spends all year collecting from gourmet magazines and then feeds about 16 of the family. It is decadent to say the least. I have never gotten away from the table with less than a 3 lb gain. And that means sticking with the least caloric things and tiny portions. There are veggies on that table, but the sauces are generally cheesy or completely not vegan. And Tod will not hear of any of us bringing anything but wine or desserts. What to do, what to do? Well, I understand Dr. McDougall actually has turkey on Thanksgiving, maybe this tells us that family trumps program, every once in a while?

Your Thanksgiving meal does sound like a huge challenge! All I can think to suggest is eat before you go so you won't be hungry. Turkey is one of the leanest meats you can eat, so that might be a plus. You could always take a big salad to share, and fill half your plate with salad to help you get full on less calorie dense stuff.

OK we both made bad choices this weekend. Time to start anew and both have good weight loss this week. I'm looking for a 2 lb. loss this week, how 'bout you?

Oh TY blondie, I'll try to see if Cousin Tod will let me bring something (salad) this year and really a challenge for this week is exactly what I need!

I just put in my phone's weight loss tracker that I am going to loose 2 lbs a week to hit 203 by mid December. That is a really big goal from me, as that weight level means I will go from obese to overweight, both of which I never thought I could ever be. Anyway, it's like you read my mind 2 pounds it is, let's go and let's be good!
