thanks 711Gal...btw i dont know where you got your name, but it instantly reminded me of 711 coffee :), and a typical 711 store with the wieners that have been roasting there for who knows how long!!

I agree..many restaurants go overboard with oil. I am trying out traditional recipes with no oil, and its a learning process. But as they say, once you start thinking, you come up with many solutions. Just yesterday I made a stuffed capsicum or pepper veg dish, that normally my mom used to stir fry in some oil, but I just kept adding some water and covered it, then carefully let it sear a bit on all sides.

I have lost a few pounds since I started, but am waiting for more..

thanks for your support!!

I made this wonderful dish on Thursday night for friends. Spinach Kofta (though I used Kale) and instead of a yogurt sauce I used tofu and coconut milk. I also made a "mock" lamb kofta if you will, here in the states we have the "Gimmie Lean" brand of "ground soy" and used that with a lamb kofta recipe. Came out yum! They are journeying closer to becoming vegetarians, (after seeing my weight loss and body changes) then maybe make the leap to veganism. However, they were impressed with the meal.

Just to be clear, since this IS the MWL forum . . . that is nowhere NEAR a MWL recipe and the coconut milk make it not OK on the regular plan either. Tofu and coconut milk are both fairly high in fat. The fake meats are also high in fat and are not recommended on this program. The meals above would be OK for feast days but they are off plan otherwise.

Just wanted to be sure everyone reading is aware of this.

Many of us do cook Indian food and stay on plan. The No Oil Vegetarian Cooking book ( http://www.amazon.com/No-Oil-Vegetarian ... 538&sr=8-1 ) has been very helpful to me. It's not vegan of course, but just leave out the dairy stuff. "Dry roasting" spices makes them taste at LEAST as good as cooking them in oil. :)

Trust me on this: One day you'll wake up and realize that it no longer feels like "being strict." It just feels GOOD. :)

I am a newbie to McDougalling! I originally bought the McDougall Program 12 Days to Dynamic Health. I have lost about 9 pounds since I started in June. I love this way of eating! I have 30 pounds more to go and was feeling a little frustrated then I realized that there was a MWL book! Duh! I picked it up yesterday and would highly recommend that you get that book! It has helped clarify alot for me! I was eating more of a maintenance plan and although I feel great, I want those extra pounds gone and to achieve the healthiest body for me!
I shopped this morning and have started the MWL PLAN, I am totally excited and especially appreciated Dr. McDougal's charts in chapter 12: Establishing a Healthy Lifestyle.
Good luck, all of the above advice is great and this forum is so helpful! One of my new habits will be to check in daily to read and follow all these Star McDougallers advice!

Eat foods that can be peeled and buy a cheap rice cooker/steamer for your hotel room. Get the happycow app and you may be surprised by how many vegan friendly restaurants are around. I just spent 6 weeks in Cambodia and was able to stick to the plan, including eating out.
