How do you manage arthritis pain? My husband has arthritis in his hip and it flairs up really bad at times - any home remedies that would alleviate the pain?
I have osteoarthritis (OA) and the inflammation with pain went into remission following the Maximum Weight Loss diet strictly. I don't remember how long it took but I probably felt some relief in a few days and I think it was probably 2-3 months later I realized I didn't have any pain at all for awhile. I have since participated in many activities that normally would have aggravated my OA without any repercussions/pain/inflammation.

Dr. McDougall has written quite a bit on OA - if you use the search function you'll find excellent advice. Here is one from his hot topics section on the home page: http://www.drmcdougall.com/med_hot_arthritis.html You will also find some videos of Star McDougaller's who over came their OA at the bottom.

I hope your husband finds himself pain free quickly on this diet as well.

My arthritis has completely quit bugging me since I went on Maximum Weight loss program and got gluten out of my food plan. I ate some gluten not thinking about it last night and it is acting up again. Shows how much this diet is doing for me besides just the weight loss. It has cured things doctors told me I'd have the rest of my life one of them being my arthritis.

Are you following the McDougall plan? That would be my home remedy. I do not have arthritis in my hips but I have it in my knees, including those pesky bone spurs. As long as I stay on the McDougall plan, I have no discomfort from the arthritis. I do believe for me anyway, it is the oils/fats that really aggravate arthritis.

I turned 61 a few weeks ago.
