Hi, I’m from Finland and started Mc D four days ago. I don’t have a lot of extra weight to lose, appr. 22 lbs, but that is not the main reason why I starteded this.
I have always had problems with my digestion and now I’m diagnosed to have rheumatoid arthritis. I was couple of months in Dr. Graham’s diet, but I found it too sweet for me and now I have found this. I can still eat some fruits but also starches, grains and bread. Is this perfect or what!
Currently I’m eating like the following. Could you kindly comment if I’m doing right or wrong/ too much or too little (my current weight is 159 lbs):

Breakfast:
Oatmeal with
1 banana
3,4 oz. blue berries

Lunch:
4 potatoes
1 sweet potato
3,4 oz. kidney beans

Dinner
Rice
steamed veggies
1 slice of whole rye bread

Evening snack
1 banana (Oh I love bananas when I don’t have to eat them 30 pc a day :-D )

Thanks for welcoming me. Here are also other finnsih speaking people :-) ?
I would have one question for you with more experience with this diet:
I have experienced, after starting this diet, that I'm constantly cold and my joints have gone worse (more aches in my knees). Is this due to adjusting period or should I limit some foodstuff out of my meals? Do you have any ideas about this?

First good thing I have noticed is, that I have lost my gravings for candies, chocolate etc. I have always had problems with eating that junk in moderate amounts but now I don't have that problem anymore. I don't have to eat them at all, Wonderful!

I appreciate every ideas and help and sorry if my texts are hard to understand (my english is far from perfect  ).

I am 100% SURE that your English is way way way better than the Finnish of almost every person here, so don't worry about it! :D I, for one, do not know a single word of Finnish.

Okay "Love the Lorax", no pressure :-P .
I see you have lost a good amount of weight, congratulations! Actually your lost weight is almost the same as I'm going to loose. Let's see if I succee.
Did you experience any cold feelings when you started? If yes, did those feelings ever go away?

I must admit I am cooler since starting the diet. It's a two edged sword - It's tougher in the winter and a delight during the summer. I am much more able to tolerate the heat than previously. But yes, I do find myself reaching for the sweater or coat quicker.

Is it possible that I don't eat enough to keep me warm, although I don't feel hungry. I don't know very well how one's body works, but isn't it so, that the excess energy is removed via heating and if there's still excess energy it is stored as fat? Is there anyone who knows these things?
I'm a secretary and the temperature in our office is around 73 Fahrenheit and I'm freezing :crybaby: . I have two long sleeved sweaters on me and it is still too cold for me....Well, hopefully on time I will get used to this. And I agree that it will be a good thing in the summer. Have to wait till next summer to experience that...

Do you exercise at all? I found that last winter, when I was lifting weights before work, I would feel a warm glow that made my chilly office feel much more tolerable.

Yes I do. Well not weight lifting but I walk with my dog. 45 min in the morning before going to work and 1 hr in the evening. I have tried jogging but my knee joints didn't like that so I've stayed in walking. And walking is not just a "sunday walk" but I get ususally hot. But after coming back home and sat for a while the cold always comes back....Odd though, this morning I have felt more warm. Maybe my body just needs some time to adjust...

I have noticed that my heartbeat has got slower than before. Before I always felt the heart beating in my chest but not anymore.
My lungs are feeling better, it's easier to breath than before. Well, I haven't ever had any problems with breathing but now it is somehow easier.
In general, my fitness has improved a lot although I haven't done anything special. Just walking like before...

Question:
Has anyone noticed anything like those? Can those really be results of this diet?

My pulse slowed down and I stopped feeling my heart beat, but I figured it was due to lower of my blood pressure.

Yep that can definitely be a result of this way of eating. There are a lot of us that feel tons better. My asthma has always acted up pretty bad and you can see posts on here even when I was just getting into it about my breathing. Now days it's doing so much better that I cut an hour off walking up hills that are by my house. I didn't even realize it till hubby said something.
