  • September 30: pushups + bike commute

Saturday, 9/3, I was recovering from the 55 mile ride on 9/2 and we made a road trip to the mountains up in the NE tip of TN and I let the day get by without exercise. Beginning today, 9/4, I'm counting my days in a row to see if that can help keep me motivated.

On Sep 25, during the walk with Karen, I did about a mile barefoot and wound up with a blister on my right foot (TMTS, too much too soon). So on Sep 26, which was a rainy day anyway, I laid off the aerobic portion and had a recovery day.

Alright TominTn, I am joining your thread if you don't mind :-D . I keep seeing your posts with all the exercise charted and decided to try to up exercise to closer to your level. Knowing I've committed to posting this will help keep me motivated, even if no one ever reads it but me! LOL!!! This will up my amount of exercise I've been doing, and is most certainly going to help get off the last pounds and tweek my BP. I'll update as I finish whatever I do.

Sept 1 - 10 min. weights at home (very busy day...)
Sept 2 - 35 min. aerobics tape, 10 minutes weights
Sept 3 - 65 min. jogging/walking (I live in a hilly area, it is quite a workout for me, about 4 1/2 miles)
Sept 4 - 65 min. jogging/walking
Sept 5 - 51 min bicycling (8 miles)
Sept 6 - 46 min bicycling, 15 min strength
Sept 7 - 69 min walking/jogging
Sept 8 - illness
Sept 9 - 36 min walking/jogging
Sept 10 - 77 min bicycling
Sept 11 - 35 min walking/jogging
Sept 12 - strength, upper body
Sept 13 - strength
Sept 14 - 34 min walking/jogging
Sept 15 - strength, 36 min walking/jogging
Sept 16 - strength
Sept 17 - 60 min walk/jog
Sept 18 - 65 minutes biking
Sept 19 - 20 minutes strength
Sept 20 - 20 minutes walk/jog
Sept 21-22 - Wisdom tooth out, time to recover!
Sept 23 - 36 minutes walk/jog
Sept 24 - 68 minutes biking
Sept 25 - 55 minutes walking/jogging
Sept 26-28 back pain flare from old injury, took time off
Sept 29 - 51 minutes walking/ jogging
Sept 30 - 50 minutes very gentle biking. Not really exercise as in building up a sweat for me BUT I finally convinced my daughter to go with me. She had been very gun shy after a minor bike wreck a year ago, and was quite nervous about biking at all, so we kept it very slow and gentle. SO worth it - she wants to go out tomorrow! YEAH! I might get a biking buddy and she will start getting in some exercise.

September has started off well.

9/1 - Run/Walk
9/2 - Walk 64 minutes - short 30 minute swim with lots of breaks
the only day I was under 10000 steps - but I think the swim helps me put it over the
9/3 - Run/Walk - 4 miles
9/4 - Walk - 57 minutes + 1 1/2 hrs windsurfing
9/5 - Run/Walk 39 minutes

I just realized today that since I am very slowly adding in running - I probably only actually run 5 minutes a session.

I did get new shoes New Balance Minimus road - I was impressed during the walking sections - not sure about the running - the rocks getting stuck in the Nike Frees were driving me crazy

My form is still rather questionable - small aches in pains in different areas - nothing consistent - and nothing I would consider an injury

It's fun right now to get so much movement in - not sure how it will play out when I go back to work - I'm also a little bummed because I seem to justifying extra snacking because of the exercise - not gaining - but I've plateaued right under a 23 BMI

edited 'cuz my fingers got a little crazy and I wasn't done

Wow! I got a couple of days behind on my posting and all of sudden everybody's posting more details! Awesome!

Welcome, Love the Lorax. I don't mind at all -- I'm excited that you're joining in. And now at least one other person has read your log. :) (But I'll bet lots of folks have.) Seriously, I have found posting my exercise very motivational. I hope it does the same for you.

Blondie and Vic, you all look like you're doing great. Thank you for adding more detail to your logs.

Maybe I should get behind on my updates more often.

"Log all your physical activities. Logging is the single most important lifestyle habit leading to lifelong consistency -- and it takes only a few seconds a day to record your efforts. Yet it makes all the difference in the world in terms of personal pride and feelings of achievement. Plus you'll have something to turn back to for trend comparisons." --Rob Sweetgall, Creative Walking, Inc. on motivation.

Hi TominTN - I like that quote about recording exercise. Amazing how much it does help, isn't it? Somehow when I look back I realize how much effort I've put in, and don't want to lose my progress.

Sorry I kind of disappeared. I broke my toe (went all the way through too) the end of July. I barely could walk. Then my son was in the hospital for three weeks. I only got in small amounts of walks. This week we have had rain, lots of rain.

The good news is I signed up for a Yoga Teacher Training course. that is each weekend starting Sept 23 and going until Feb. 5. I go Friday for two hours and Saturday/Sunday for 6 hours each.

The garden is still jumping and I'm still planting for fall, so getting some moving in there.

9/1 walk 60
9/2 walk 45 and 50 (got one in during the day it was so pretty out)
9/3 garden 120
9/4 20 walk to the store
9/5 0
9/6 walk 20 to/fr meeting (got soaked) and after work 20 until the rain started back
9/7 & 8 rain
9/9 walk 30 before the rain hit
9/10 nothing
9/11 garden 60, lots of pulling and picking

thanks
No walk yesterday as it never would stop raining. It poured. Sump pump can't keep up any more so did some shop vacuuming to get water up.

Keep up the momentum. It's so easy to lose it. I got to work on mine also. I've had too much lax time, especially on my core.

12 day straight of movement - I'm actually thinking that September might be the month for getting something in every day. :)

I did my long run yesterday - 4.5 miles - run/walk - 2/1.

I seem to have developed metatarsalgia - it's not particularly painful - just always feels like there is something in the middle of the ball of my foot. At first I thought I had a splinter or something. I am occasionally icing - but not willing to give up the movement yet.

Working on my running form. And walking form.

Vic

Ouch I never heard of those. I hate anything on my foot to hurt. I turn into a real grump.

Good week for me, some posted above.

9/12 Monday 45 walk and 15 yoga
9/13 Tuesday 70 walk (I forgot to add that I went to buy fish for the aquarium on that walk. It is the first time I've taken fish for a walk)

9/14 Wednesday 75 walk to home depot
9/15 well darn it rained, so I did chores. I almost did a tape though.
9/16 only mid day and already got in two 20 minute walks - and two more, for a total of 80 minutes.

I hope your foot recovers quickly, Vic. Good job on the consistency, and I hope you listen to your body.

Good job, Faith.
