HOW do you make these taste good without adding a ton of sugar? They taste like bad quinoa, but they are the most conveient GF breakfast I've seen. Mind you, I am not a big "sweets for breakfast" person. Strange because I was such a sweet tooth, but I just can't start my day that way.

I really don't care for quinoa flakes as a stand-alone. I used to use them in recipes that called for oat flakes (but now my son is eating gf oats). I DO like whole grain quinoa cooked with chopped apples, cinnamon, and (if you eat dried fruit) raisins. Very tasty, but alas, I'm doing an elimination diet and missing many tasty things right now! :P

ETA: you can make up a big batch and refrigerate, then just scoop out how much you want in the morning!

Let me just add... "Corn Flakes" easy, gluten free... yummy.

I didn't like the quinoa flakes either...

I also love puffed millet with chopped up fruit in it. When I can find it.

I am guessing one of the more natural brands of corn flakes? The name brand is not gluten free (At least it was the last time I checked).

Puffed rice sounds like a good idea!

I am just looking for something VERY simple to eat for breakfast- my body seems to abbhor starches and sweet things in the morning. (That is excluding hash browns :D )

what do the chex cereals taste like? my therapist got chex and told me she liked it and i never got it. i really need something else besides potatoes, even though i love potatoes.

i used to like mesa flakes the best. they have a touch of corn taste but very crunchy and a bit sweet/salty but not a lot of sugar in reality. reminded me of heritage flakes i think it was. i dont care for sweet in the morning either except fruit, unfortunately raw fruit i love. (this is stressing me out!) anyways, i also had the hot cereal i think from bobs red mill GF hot cereal. its more mush then crunchy/chewy, kinda a touch like grits for both taste and texture but more mild i guess because it has rice in it too. i just like to put in some almond milk with a bit of salt as i like savory. i tend to like things that arent overwhelming tasting like corn though and those 2 i used to eat.

The rice chex tastes like a light bread flavor and the corn chex have a mild corn flake flavor.. both good.. not sweet.. just plain flavored.. I like them with plain almond milk or plain soy milk. and yummy still with banana or blue berries mixed in.

I recently tried (again) mesa sunrise cereal by nature's path. It has been a long time since I've had it. The taste isn't too bad but I don't like how sugar comes before many other grains in the list. I think it's the third ingredient. I found some GF corn flakes I'm going to try for my camping trip, I'll see how it goes...

I'm not sugar-free, I'm just trying to go low sugar.

I finally found some GF Cheerios. They are by Nature's Path and I are called Whole O's. Taste just like Cheerios.

they had GF sampling at my local organic market and all the gluten free foods they had that werent "normal" samplings was 1 cracker, 2 cookies and rice pasta drenched in olive oil. wow.... :-(

i wanted to taste some cereals, breads, frozen foods. i will ask them if they have a return policy if i dont like something like TJs, but if so i might go through 1/2 dozen boxes of cereal before i decide on one that i like. does everyone here spend mega bucks on some of these things to find one acceptable item? thats one reason why i eat so little processed food. it costs so much so unless its REALLY good, i dont bother.

i did get the corn grits and cooked it in almond milk with salt and liked that a lot. its much better then the white grits. its a good oats sub. creamy just not as pasty creamy and not chewy like the steel cut. but better then the mighty tasty GF cereal i think and much more creamy then my rice porridge attempts.
