I know there are many of you here who have pets that you care for...

Anyone with suggestions how to remove ticks from deep inside a dog's ears, where grasping the tick's head with tweezers is not possible?

Thanks!

Sorry to hear that your dog has a tick!!!
I, myself would give that one over to the vet to do. I'd be afraid of not getting that entire little tick out & or hurting my dog, too..
Good luck, I hope your doggie will be ok.
I've been using Revolution monthly on my dog. It's supposed to help with fleas, ticks ,mites & heart worm disease. She only goes outside to potty & for walks. She's a little Yorkie & I know that she wouldn't hold still long enough for me to try & get something out of her ear.
Let us know how things work out.
Phyllis..................... :-D

I'm not so sure it's safe to use Revolution monthly. Please check the directions and warnings.

I do a lot of long distance back packing and I take along some vaseline to smear on the ticks. This causes the ticks to release their hold and fall off.

Hope this helps you.

The thing that has worked for me in the past is to use a little tea tree oil. I put the tea tree oil on a q-tip and dab in on the tick - usually causes it to back right out. I haven't tried this on any of my dogs (I use Advantix which has kept them tick free so far), but it's worked on me.

Ohhh, so sorry to hear about those ticks. I have no real help for you, I am just fighting my own flea infestation this year. We have a 12 year old(yep that's her picture) and she has not even come close to a flea since she was a pup. She sleeps with and never even scratched. I pulled the covers back to get into bed night before last and a huge area in the middle of the sheet was all flecked with blood. I found countless fleas on her and killed all I could find, washed the sheets and quilt and all her bedding around the house, gave her a bath and did not get to sleep until after midnight. Next morning I checked her again and she had many microscopic dots moving on her. Baby fleas had hatched in the night. More picking and a trip to the vet for their recommendation. Got that going now and she seems clean this morning. We have been hearing on the news a lot lately about the flea problem because of all the wet weather. I hope ticks are not to follow but if they are I am sucking up all the information you are giving to me. Thanks
