Well after all these years I think I'm connecting the dots.

A few positive notes I got hubby to stop buying chips. He hasn't given up SAD foods but at least I don't have various chips on the frig talking to me.

We baked some potatos and I made some bite size fritters and fresh veggies for his and mine snacks at work.

We go camping in a few days not sure how this will pan out. We have a cook stove but all the people going except me are SAD eatters. This includes my husband so I will be on point to make sure I have enough food that I can eat. My daughter wanted to buy our food but told her no. She could buy a little extra for her dad but I would bring my own. Wish me luck on that trip.

We have a potluck at work on Thursday. I got a recipe off this site for a bean casserole. I just have to resist the brownies and other desserts.

Our garden is growing great we have had salad from the different kinds of lettuce and leafys we are growing and also fresh strawberries. I can't wait for the squash and tomatoes to start growing and ripening.

Have a great day!!
:P

My whole family are SAD eaters and always have meat on the grill when we camp. I have to bring my own food most of the time, except fruit because we always have watermelon, cantaloupe, cherries, strawberries and blueberries on hand.

My favorite dinner: I put onions, mushrooms, zucchini, summer squash, spices and some water in tin foil, roll it up and place it on top of the grill. It doesn't take much time to cook and it always comes out nice. I'll put spinach and baby carrots in it too for some color.

Also, if you have a camp fire going, roll up a potato in tin foil with a bit of water in it (make sure you puncture it) and put it in the coals. Turn it every 15 minutes or so for about 45 minutes depending on how big the potato is. It is always best to check after 30 minutes just to make sure you don't burn the spud. Always comes out nice a fluffy!

Good luck on your trip and have fun!

thanks for stopping by Tigger and Deb

Deb I live by Fresno we heat up quickly. We have been having strawberries and lettuce our radishes were way to hot to eat. Hubby composted them and planted something else in its place.

Well today was a very tiring day. I had a doctor's appointment in the morning with my new doctor. It was good. He had me get a chest exray cause I have been sick for 5 weeks. My lungs were clear. I have a bad cough but no pnemonia. The exray doesn't show bronchious or asthma.

Then we had a potluck for cinco de mayo I made the three bean casserole that Mary revamped from the discussion board. It was very good. I had some bad stuff guacamole chips and a little square for chili rellano casserole. Which was greasy and made me a little sick.
I also had an empanada which was baked with pumpkin in the middle pretty good.
No dinner just some sliced zucchini.

I didn't eat any desserts or ice cream which made me happy.

I'm getting better at saying no and walking by the meat and dairy foods. I did see some great looking rice and was going to try it but it had chicken so I passed.

Well that was my day I'm tired and need to sleep.

:-D :) :?

Well back from camping trip. I did really well. With my eatting and our camp site was up a hill from the lake so it was quite a trip I did the trip 6 times now my calfs and thigh muscles are aching.

We all just kind of cooked on our own. Saturday night each site decided to cook tri tip except my husband and I . He is a SAD eatter so he was able to get some chicken from his daughter. I cooked some sweet potatoe in foil with a teaspoon of brown sugar in between I cut the potato in half. I had some green beans and mushrooms on a regular baked potato.

It rained Saturday night. But in the end we can look back and say it was fun being with the girls and their families.

Next is vacation bible school with the grandkids and Jordan's birthday party. July we have baby shower for my new grandson.

Should be a busy summer.

I had mentioned I stopped buying chips but I bought some tortilla chips for the camping trip. I'm doing really well with them.

After returning from camping and getting everything cleaned and put away it has been quite a week.

Last night my granddaughter's concert was last night. That was a lot of fun watching the kids play there instruments. There was a little art show at the same time.

Tonight I have back to school night with the other two grandkids. Andrew has a performance before the meet the teacher time. Should be interesting watching all these kindergarteners perform.

Food wise doing well. I have been making oven roasted potatoes for my snack. That helps having something good to eat.

:D :-D :)

Well it is Saturday. So many things to do. Where to start.

Last night I have spagghetti with mushrooms it was really good. Then we walked around the farmers market and got some apricots, blueberries, cherries, tomatoes and zucchini. Yum!! ;-)

I have to plan a menu for the week. We have another busy week. My daughters want to meet to plan daughter #2 baby shower. Not sure how much to budget for that. She wants a fancy cake. I need to have my house cleaned really well for this even might invest in outside person to come clean.

Glad for the fresh veggies :x :D

Okay so since my last post I have fallen and fallen hard. I know what to do but I'm not doing it.

I got out my 12 McDougall program book and figured I could do 12 days. Jump start. Bad choices.

Each day is a new one and I try to make the right choices. Hubby temped me with ice cream last night but I said no.

Today I had whole grain cereal with soy milk and strawberries from my garden and a few blueberries. I packed split pea soup and brown rice in case I can't make it until lunch. Lunch I have a salad pre made by hubby last night.

I might mash some beans and wrap up the salad and beans in a tortilla.

I'm working on staying on program.

There is always that temptation out there. Glad you resisted it.
I buy the groceries so DD and DH do not get to bring stuff in the house that are what I call junk,
they have learned that when I go to sprouts store they get their nut mixes for snacks.
You are doing good. One day at a time. :) :) :)

Thanks for stopping by tornadoalley.

For me it watching every meal or bite. Like tonight we have a meeting for VBS at our church. They are providing dinner. I'm not sure what they are offering but I know it won't be McD friendly. So I told hubby to make some salads and bake some potato wedges.

If I don't play a head I will fail so thats my plan for tonight.

:P

Dear Self:
I'm so proud of you. Yesterday you ate your potatoes and salad. You resisted the sub sandwich with meat and mayo at the VBS function. You are doing a good job next time don't eat the chips.

Yesterday was a very good day until I had a plate of barbeque chips set in front of me.

My bad!

getting better I read on another website and acronym about bingeing (sp?)

If you are feeling any other these feelings don't eat

HALT
Hate, anger, loneliness or tire
don't seek out the junk
walk away from the foods that are bad

 :P :-)

Well made it to Friday!! Yippee!

Bummer potluck at work. People were telling me what they were making sounded good. I went for veggie pilaf McD style. I put some wild rice in it too. Corn and peas, onions celery. Veggie broth.

There is a green salad but it probably has dressing on it. Hopefully it is undressed.

Granddaughter's swim meet tomorrow. #2 wants to go with us. But she has a birthday party to attend at 11 I guess we will see what is what in the a.m.

I'd like to go to farmers market but our budget is tight we don't get paid until next week.

I'm hoping for a great McD weekend. I have lots of rice!!

Its wonderful Wednesday!!

Well started off my day with going in to have my blood test for my Doc. I have a new Doc and he didn't do as many tests as my last. I think he is just checking on cholestrol and trigly. My trigly can be high. Since it was a fasting blood test I usually catch breakfast out. But trying to be MWL compliant. I made my breakfast and brought some watermelon to have with it.

One day at a time One meal at a time!!
 8) :P

Ok yesterday was not a good day. I had to get up early for a fasting blood test. Made the whole day long.

I'm trying to stay on plan. Yesterday was ok but I had two bad things. today will be better. My husband's daughters have been coming by. #1 has two kids that eat constantly she can't stay home the home situation blew up yesterday had a run in with her motherinlaw so she was at my house. Daughter #2 is preggers and came over cause she has no life except her husband and soon to be baby. She likes our pool and air conditioning better.
Hubby didn't want to cook to hot. I need some prepared meals. Its costing us to much to eat out.

I got my blood tests results last night I"m very happy with them will see how the doc is about them.

My montra is no new drugs.

Its Thursday so far cold cereal soy milk and blueberries.

I need to plan dinner for tonight.

Ok well so my last post was June 16th. Humm not connecting the dots to well.

I have to say I have been getting inspiration from reading others journals. We all have a common thread. I just have to keep doing it. I try to do well. I don't alway plan well.

Hubby like to cook and I have to question some of his dishes but he says he is McD compliant. I read on the Lounge a question about when will we get back to normal eatting. Thats funny. Hubby likes to know when he can eat chicken and fish again. I told him he is a big boy if he can catch and cook it he can eat it. I read another one on if the change in eatting had hurt people relationships. Hubby always says when we are in a gathering of church or other people. (because he is so deprived) She took me off Beef and pork and now she is getting rid of my fish and chicken. He has a thought pattern like many on SAD and that were raised in the south that olive oil is good for you. He loves his fat and sugar. I'm had gotten better at resisting his attempts to drag me back into a SAD diet.

Well anyway I have rambled on.

:-D

Well here I am again.

I have been reading others posts and boy eatting SAD food can be stomach turning when you read all the info from some of the posts.

Now I have to confess I do really well on cereal and soy milk in the morning, fruit for snack then more potatoes of veggies for lunch, hummus, cherry tomatoes for lunch and then dinner.

I get so hungry after dinner. Not even and hour afterwards. My other confesssion is I love eggs. I have stopped eatting them. My old boss wouldn't eat eggs he called them chicken ova or something like that and all I have to do is think about that and I get grossed out. I was reading Hamsters' journal yesterday and he talked about chocolate and dairy cravings. I have never had that but I have egg cravings. I love eggs anyways. But I have to think ugly thoughts to make myself grossed out and not wanting them.

I made the hummas with chickpeas and I put in a half of a can of white beans. It turned out really good and creamy. I have been hungry for chili too. Kind of weird being its over 100 degrees here.
 Oh well a salad with chili sounds good too.

cereal/soy milk
cantalope/carrots
2 corn tortillas
potatoes
hummus/whole wheat crackers

;-)
