Good morning everyone! Well, i've officially gone through a full ten day Mary's mini & had been almost DREADING the weigh in today. I've felt like I'm just spinning my wheels, not getting anywhere, oh...alll sorts of despondant because I just wasnt feeling like I was losing at all. Truly felt like...how can I possibly eat all this, and lose weight?? i'm NEVER gonna get there!! :(

Unless my scale is dead wrong, it looks like I'm down 2-maybe, 3 lbs. Tht...is wonderful! I realize tht 20 years ago, when I lost 80 pounds, through one HECK of a lot of exercize & dietary restraint, it was a whole lot easier than NOW. Things ARE going to slow down...i can't DO the kind of exercize now at all, (MS entered the picture)that I did at that time. So...this must be ~diet. YAYYY!! :D I'm pleased...it's not a great deal, but...it's SOMETHING, huh? Whew...no going back now! Just had to report the success! I'm a happy grl!

burgh_grl, yes, we do slow down as we get older. I know what you are saying about struggling to lose weight, but this is by far the easiest diet I have been on. It may come off slowly, but you are getting healthier....stay the course. Know your weaknesses, whether it is snacking, eating out, evening muching, or whatever. This site is loaded with tips and tricks to plan for those times!

Good luck, keep posting.

Brad

I read something the other day about the importance of slow weight loss that hadn't occurred to me before. Our bodies store all the hormones, pesticides, herbicides and other man-made poisons we've eaten over the years in our fat cells. As those fat cells are utilized during weight loss out come all those poisons. The liver and kidneys can handle the detoxification up to a point, but lose weight too quickly and you'll likely start to feel like crap from excess toxins. Headaches, nausea, etc. So a weight loss of one to two pounds a week is really better for you, as it won't put such a strain on the liver and kidneys from all the chemicals you've ingested over the years.

That makes sense Kate. I lost slow, also to learn to maintain and help me through the times of holiday, vacations, and emotions gone wild. It use to bother me. Then I remembered, hey you are trying to learn how to maintain, which you want to continue your whole life, so this little extra time it takes to get the weight off is just a small drop in the life bucket.

Keep on working on it. Hopefully soon you'll feel better and can move too.

Congratulations on the weight loss from MM's. I agree, as Faith said, slow and steady wins the race. I read recently it is better healthwise to lose slowly and remain consistent throughout the duration, than it is to yo-yo up and down.
