It's a little late for this season, so mentally file this one for next year......... As Faith can tell you, I like to "play with my food". I grew all my tomatoes from seed. Two of my very favorite cherry types are Sun Gold, which is a round, orange variety. LOL, that one often didn't make it into the house, I just ate them when I was hungry or thirsty while working outside. Another really fun one is Matt's Wild Cherry. It's very small and very delicate, so I can't imagine ever finding it at a farmers market even. I've seen plenty of Sun Gold at farmers markets and also got them with my CSA. Anyways, the Matt's Wild Cherry, I had to harvest them with my clippers, taking the whole stem, just like the way stem tomatoes are sold in the grocery store, because if I tried to pluck them single handed from the plant, they'd tear.
A few years ago I was going up to Michigan to visit my sister at the right time that I could take her a few plants. Her then two (?) year old grand daughter earned the name Tomato Monster that summer. Her grandma never got a single cherry tomato. That child ate every single Sun Gold and Matt's Wild Cherry that the plants produced! She'd arrive at Grandma's house, grab a bowl out of the kitchen, and head straight for the garden. No hello, just where are those tomatoes?! The following year the child tried to eat the plants when I brought them, as she wanted tomatoes NOW!!! She's very disappointed that her great aunt doesn't have a garden any more.
LOL, what Faith isn't saying is that when I cleaned out the house I sent her all my seeds, opened and unopened packages, so she got to have a grand time playing with her food too.
