Yes, I am healed and grateful!

Of course I give credit for part of my ability to heal to McDougalling. Without certain nutrients that are abundantly provided by our nutrient dense diets, healing would be impossible. So I thank our Father for the good food and I thank Dr. McDougall for nutrition education.

The details of my healing may not impress you but I will share them anyway. I had a common accident with a common result. I cut myself while shaving. The blood streamed form the small incision. The cut was so close to my nose that I noticed it whenever I looked in the mirror. For the first two days, it was ugly. By day four the affected area appeared almost normal and six days after the injury (in less than 144 hours) it seems to be completely healed! (Perhaps you young McDougallers can heal even faster!)

Here is a question to ponder: If the first living cells/organisms lacked the ability to repair themselves (to heal), would they have survived long enough to have reproduced? Do you have any ancestors who lacked the ability to heal?

It seems to me that this ability to heal/recover is essential for survival since our bodies (cells) are constantly incurring insults.

While I say this only as a layman, it is consistent with what biologists call the irreducible complexity of living systems. In other words, there are no simple livings cells/systems/organisms. Living organisms (at least in the view of educated scientists) are extremely complicated. There are no exceptions.

So if, for example, the ability provided by DNA (and I believe by our Creator) to heal was lacking, the organism would not be reproductively successful. Add to that many other abilities that are essential for survival and reproduction.

For me, all of this points to the Creator, a great Planner and Designer. Living organisms are able to survive and reproduce only because they are sufficiently complex--equipped by their DNA to thrive.

If you find the subject of irreducible complexity interesting, see:

So the next time you experience healing, think about the amazing ability your body has to heal itself. I do not believe this ability is the result of accidents...and I am grateful to be healed! :-D

Hi Pinkrose - I haven't posted on this forum before but your post struck a chord with me. (I don't mean to hijack your thread.) Last year, my husband and I were fortunate to be able to visit Italy. We went to the Vatican (we aren't Catholic) and had a amazing tour by an Irish nun. She put something very simply for us - which had formerly bothered me - the question of evolution vs. creationism. Her view was that no matter how long a creature (or whatever) took to evolve, it all came from the Creator, whether it was days or millions of years. I loved that!
I think the world and everything in it are much too complex to have happened randomly - it required an incredible intelligence beyond what we can comprehend.

I love that you were aware of the small healing as well as larger ones. Often in our lives we just take so much for granted.
As we acknowlege and express our gratitude for small details of our lives, I feel we gain in faith and wonder.
Also seeing a small outward wound heal, gives a hint about our inside healing.
There is a line in a hymn--sorry do not know the name of the hymn, or even the rest of it.
But this line always stays with me
"May our unseen wounds be healed"
And I always think our unacknowleged as well.

I was meditating on this deeply yesterday or the day before, about the amazing self-healing properties of our bodies. Whether it is a cut in the skin or a bone break or some other trauma, things repair themselves (of course, we shelter the injury with bandages or casts or medicines) but essentially the body heals itself.

Eating this way brings in nutrients and frees up healing energy in our systems so we do heal quickly. Good stuff! God does all things well.

It seems a sign of bad health (diabetes for one) if you do not heal quickly.

Pinkrose--thanks for sharing your experience!

Merriweather,

That line is from an LDS hymn "As I Search The Holy Scriptures" Verse 3, last line. Most of us have unseen wounds. Let us all be more observant and patient with our fellow human beings. We never know what the others we meet during our day are experiencing.

God's blessings to you all,
Shirley

So true. We know we should not judge, but find myself doing it.
Yesterday we were shopping and this overweight woman was pushing her 6-8 yr old child in a cart. The little girl was also overweight. My husband kept saying " That child needs to be walking. No wonder she is over weight"
I finally realized the child might be ill or something. We had no way of knowing. And no actual reason to know. Just needed to send them good feelings.

Yes, God is the only judge and we are not to judge lest we be judged.

We are to love and pray for all of our brothers and sisters all over the world where people are hurting and need prayer and the hand of God in their lives.

So, let's lift them up to Him in prayer always!

Be blessed as we travel this journey getting our temples in order through the Lord Jesus Christ who can do anything, but fail. We are to take care of our temples and be pleasing in the sight of the Lord.

God blessed journey to you all!
Jamila
