I hadn't heard of this but found info on the net--
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency ... 000867.htm

what I was thinking of when I read your post was using Vicks, it can clear up fungus in toenails. (people have written to Dr. Peter Gott to say it works) which is not the same thing as you have but the treatment may be worth a try.

for any kind of itching, this might help--an aspirin crushed with a drop of water added to paste so it can be rubbed on the itchy spot.

good luck!

nail infection

Postby Birdy » Wed May 16, 2007 9:45 pm

If the lichen planus is a fungal infection of the nail (I don't know exactly what it is), I've had very good success on three occasions using pure coconut oil to clear up fungal infections underneath my fingernails. I just rub in the oil very well around and under the nail several times a day until the infection clears up. Apparently coconut oil has strong anti-fungal properties.
