Does anyone here order non-hybrid seeds (for outdoor garden planting) to save in long-term storage, and if so from where, and how do you store them?
I am an indoor sprouts, garlic greens, etc. type gardener. I have not been an outdoor gardener, so layman's language required. :?:
Thanks,
Clary

There is a place near me that sells heirloom seeds -- Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds -- they have a local store as well as mail order business. I have not yet tried saving seeds from year to year, but some friends say they put theirs in the freezer. http://rareseeds.com/

Thanks. :)
Do you know when they store them in a freezer what kind of container(s) they use?

I'm near Mansfield. :) Small world.
Clary, I'm not sure what type container they use. Will try to find out for you.

If by non-hybrid seeds you happen to mean heirlooms, you might try this place. http://www.seedsavers.org/ What do you mean by long-term storage please?

Clary, did you notice Baker Creek seeds has a section of their forum dedicated to seed storage? Maybe you'll find an answer to your question there --
