It's not malware, it's not my cache. It's the html programming.
I'm referring to the ones on the tippy-top of the page. There's the graphic/link that says "Dr. McDougall's Health and Medical Center. Right-click that and copy the link and it grabs:
http://sonic.net/index.htmlStar McDougallers links to:
http://sonic.net/star.htmlPackaged Foods goes to:
http://sonic.net/packaged.htmland so on. It's like this on every computer I use to access the forums.
Whoever coded the page didn't put
complete links but assumed the root would be
http://www.drmcdougall.com when in actuality the root is
http://www.sonic.net, the url of the board's (host server's?) home, as seen in the action links for the board, such as
FAQ's:
http://sonic.net/~mcdsite/drmcdougall.c ... dfd3cf656fand
Search:
http://sonic.net/~mcdsite/drmcdougall.c ... dfd3cf656fIn fact, just look at the url of the page you're reading this message on - it starts with
http://sonic.net/~mcdsite/drmcdougall.com, right?
When I had my own web site on Geocities years ago, I was able to just put the page file name (/my_page.htm for example) in the link to another page on that site because the root was still my Geocities site (
http://MYNAME.geocities.com). If I was linking to that page from *another* web site I would have to put the entire url -
http://MYNAME.geocities.com/my_page.htm (all ficticious examples used, of course)
It'll just take 5 minutes for someone to type out the complete url, to type in
http://www.drmcdougall.com/index.htm to the one that now goes to /index.htm, for example.
All of you can click the graphic above that says "Dr. McDougall's Health and Medical Center" and it goes to the McDougall home page and you *don't* get directed to the "404 File Not Found" error page:
http://sonic.net/index.html instead? Weird.
