STOP

Good morning, Lord, I just woke up,
I'm running late today.
I know that I must hurry
But I have to stop to pray.

I can't begin my day, Lord,
Without praising your sweet name,
And thanking you for saving me
When in my life you came.

Please guide me through this day, Lord,
Let your will be done, not mine,
Control my thoughts, my tongue and deeds,
Let your light through me shine.

Help me in my work place
To be faithful, strong, and true
And everything I do there
Bring honor and praise to you.

I can't make it through today, Lord,
Without your strength and love,
But I can do all things
As you guide me from above.

I must be on my way now,
I have a job to do,
I know it will be better
Because I stopped to talk to you.

Good Morning Friends!

Happy Belated Birthday Texgal!!!!

May you experience the closeness to God that you desire - that's my desire too! :D

Buns - I loved your thoughts on Bible reading also.

Jubilee - HI!! I'm so glad that your DD made it home safe and sound, and you must be having so much fun hearing about her ministry and just being together! And I love Phil.4:13 that you quoted. That was the very first verse I memorized as a new believer back 30 years ago.

Hi pink - thanks for rounding us all up! By the way, I have been brainstorming trying to think of something clever to name the Sept. thread but I have come up with nothing! So do you have any inspiration for a title? I think it should be your job again :-P

Have a blessed Sunday everyone!!!!!!!

In keeping with Phil. 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me, how would it be to call the September thread
Strength in September?

There are enough verses in Scripture about God being our strength, or giving us strength, that we could post a different one every day of the month. In fact, it'd be fun to see who can post a new verse on that theme each day. Kind of a race. :-) Not that I'm competitive or anything. hehehe

September is my birthday month, and I have kind of had a goal to be stronger this year, and healthier, than last year. Last year I celebrated my 50th birthday, hence my screen name Jubilee- it's been my year of Jubilee. This coming year is going to be my year of strengthening through Christ.

Of course, that doesn't mean the thread has to have that name- it's just a suggestion. If Pink or someone has a good one too, I'm all for it.

Blessings,
Jubilee

That is a great idea Jubilee!! I love it! That gets my vote - how about everyone else?

And happy early Birthday to you - but please let us all know the exact day so we can really celebrate around here when the day comes! We are about the same age - I turned 51 in April so I'm a little older (now I just have to work on the wiser part, hehe :D )

Bye!

Roger that, Luv. After all, I've always tried to respect my elders. :-)

I'll let you know the day when it comes.

Blessings,
Jubilee

I like this, especially because the verse preceding it says "For I have learned to be content in all circumstances..." and BEING CONTENTED is something to think about when we are choosing "roots, leaves and seeds" in the face of bbq'ed burgers, caramel corn, potato chips, etc. that are always presented.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! Yes, I heard you singing. :-D I had a wonderful day - went to a couple of farmer's markets, ate veggie fajitas at lakeside restaurant, and just had a very pleasant and relaxing time. I guess I am the "old timer" here at 59! Fortunately now that I have improved my eating so much I feel like I am turning the clock backwards instead of forwards! :D

Strength in September - I like that! And maybe Jubilee's Bible verse "contest" will help me remember to dig into the word every day!

Interesting coincidence here, Jubilee: you and my better half are both to celebrate your 51st birthday next month! What day is yours? Hers is the 28th. I still consider her a girl!

I try to keep most aspects of my life as simple/plain as possible (especially the veggies)! So when I introduced "Koinonia" for the name of our thread, I thought we could keep that. Since the "religious forum" has so many other threads now, I think this may help people to find our current thread and our old threads if they/we want to do that.

While I would not object to a change, I think it would be good to select one word or phrase and stick with it for the above reason. So we could have (for example) September, 2010 Strength, October, 2010 Strength.... We all need His strength (Philippians 4.13)! :-D

Please post your opinion today!!! :-D

Did you know you were born in the year of the Rabbit, Tex gal? While I do not believe in any type of astrology, of course, we do have some fun with the Chinese zodiac here. Next year will be the year of the Rabbit and you and I (Lord willing) will both celebrate our 60th birthdays! You are my elder by a few months; so I will try to be respectful!!! Ha ha!!! :-D

Hi All,

I am so confused. I can't find where I posted yesterday. Anyways, I had a great day on MWL yesterday and woke up feeling so much better. I ate crepes with strawberries and choco sauce each of the three past days and felt so awful. Odviously, I kept eating it until yesterday i was so depressed. I hadn't put sugar in the mix except for the choco chips that went into the sauce and still i got depressed from the sugar.

Gotta be something wrong with a little bit of sugar making someone so ill tempered.

Anyhow, I popped awake at 5:30 and feel good and my attitude is so different. Praise the Lord.

Every time i get on this site, there is no one on it or very few. I think sometimes, that makes me feel kinda alone on this site. When do you all post? Well, God bless. I gotta go. kc

Hi friends,

KC sweetie - I have really missed you here!!!! We have all been here posting on the August thread. Sometimes it's busy, sometimes not, but everyone is so encouraging and inspiring. I think a few times if you look back I have asked about where you have been plus dlb, Mrs. Doodlepunk, wendy jane, and nettie. We also have some new posters like Matt, Satan's Foe and bunsofalum. who have been real blessings. Anyway, just go ahead and post even if it doesn't look busy because we will all chime in sooner or later! :D I'm so glad you are feeling better today after feeling yucky from sugar. It gives me headaches. Blah.

Hi to everyone else here! I am rejoicing that we are once again having some cooler temps after last week being so HOTI trimmed a bunch of bushes in the backyard, have had my 3.6 mi walk, did my stretching, and still need to do my weight lifting for the day. How was everyone's Sunday?

Hey all,

It's been quite a while since posting for me as well, same reasons as everyone else - school starting up, job starting up again (I'm a school bus driver), and all the associated joys of life getting busy again :)

Pink, I like the idea of keeping the same name for the thread, it simplifies things quite a bit.

Happy birthday to all who are having one! (Sorry I'm a tad late :) )

I have had two concepts (not necessarily related) deeply impressed upon me lately: balance and grace.

For balance, I've mentioned in previous posts that I was seeking ways to balance the various passions in my life so that I don't become over-zealous. It's been a challenging little journey - God has certainly exposed areas of pride in my life from which I'm constantly learning. At the same time, I have been learning the importance of being 100% content with Christ. That has been the key to balance for me - understanding that my relationship with Christ is enough for me. Several of my relationships with friends has remained strained, but I am learning the value of living a life that is so consistent that any ill-spoken word will be proven false by my conduct.

The second thing I've been learning extensively about is God's grace. One of my teachers gave me a definition for grace that I've been thinking on: "God's infinite provision in love for every need in our lives". God saved me in grace; He continues to sanctify me in grace; and one day I will be glorified and will witness the immensity of His grace for all eternity. Everything in my life is about His grace! The only thing that He requires of us then is faith - to trust Him (take Him at His Word) and depend upon Him. God is so good to us, it's awe-inspiring to think about.

Thanks for an amazing August thread everyone (in case I don't post before September), it was such a blessing over this last month to come here and be encouraged! Continue to walk in dependence upon Him - He is your life!

Matt

Matt, thanks for this great post! Here are the parts I especially appreciate:

"I have been learning the importance of being 100% content with Christ." Well said!

"Everything in my life is about His grace!"

AMEN!

Matt, I suppose you will soon be very busy with school. May your study and prepare well!

I will have classes tomorrow and I would appreciate the prayers of all of you here for my students. I will have many new youngsters. Pray that in addition to helping them learn a little English I will show them a little of the love of Christ.
:-D
