Hi to All,

How is everyone doing today?

Hey KC - how is Jacob feeling? I hope that he is back to 100%!
Jubilee - how are you doing? You haven't posted recently. I sure do hope that you are doing well and feeling better each day.
Pinkrose - I think it is really neat that you got saved on Father's Day - and that you have known the Lord for 45 years now. That is wonderful!
Hi Texgal - I appreciated your thoughts on Shirley's post. I pray that every day I will strive to know God better and walk with Him closer each day. There are many things though that distract from this.
Hi Shirley - your post was good and I hope that I will always be an encouragement to everyone here as they have been to me.

I made some brown rice pudding with raisins and it's yummy - but I'm only allowing myself to taste test it - it's for the boys and hubby. Raisins are a weakness that I have to be careful about or I can really overdo it. :(

I ran this morning with my husband and he wooped me good. He has been running a lot more now that he has the summer off, and boy, has he improved! I tried to keep up with him but couldn't for most of the run, and I have felt really tired all day now. Tomorrow I think I'll just walk :D

God Bless you all!

Hi Fellow Followers of Christ!
I am so glad you are to. I don't have to watch my words. Not that I would.
Thank you for asking. Jacob was a really sick boy. But the IV for fluids helped a lot. His diarrhea has stopped as of Sunday. Monday and Tues were good. We road bikes but he was kinda crabby. this morning, he threw up again and laid around. I guess the bike ride was not such a great idea.

I personally am having a problem with the kids out of school. I can't take them to the Y. Nothing for kids but the 300 dollar program they offer. I told them my kids have the Y with me! So I am not getting the exercise I need for blood sugar lowering. Plus, I feel a world of difference when I exercise 30 to 60 minutes a day. Jacob doesn't like bike riding and goes 2 yards an hour. I don't know what to do.

Well, I am tired and gotta go. Take care and God bless you all, kc

I am grateful Jacob is better and pray that you will be able to maintain balance as you manage all of your responsibilities, KC.

In a little while, I expect all of your kids will be grown, your nest will be empty and you will look back on these "good old days"!

Why do you think Jacob does not like biking? What can you do to help him enjoy it more? Do you have family or friends who can help you supervise/play with the kids? I hope the summer will be more fun for you than it has been recently! :D

kcwriter,

How old is Jacob? Would he enjoy just walking and possibly doing some bird watching or horticulture type thing while walking. I know that isn't getting good exercise but it's moving. My 8 year old grandson loves this type of walk and will cooperate with this type of walk. We do our looking, stopping, admiring, smelling on the way away from our house, then coming back we step out and really walk. I always take my cell phone with me so sometimes we even take pictures if we see something new. We only walk on our country road so we see the same things over and over but it's fun to see the changes that happen in the crops and roadside grasses and wild flowers. I sure hope Jacob gets over the vomiting and such real soon. Poor thing!

Love, Shirley

Hello Friends,

How is everyone doing on this beautiful day - well, at least in my neck of the woods it's beautiful!

Hi KC - so sorry that Jacob still has a little lingering tummy trouble. Does he like those scooter things? I see a lot of youngsters on those, more than bikes it seems like. My boys never liked biking that much either when they were real young, but as they got older they enjoyed it more. Or maybe a walk like grangran7 suggested. My younger son loved to go on walks and collect rocks and acorns, and even big leaves and use them in crafts sometimes.

I just finished reading a neat little book called "Ten Principles for Biblical Living" by Don Sisk.

Here they are:

1. Relationships are more important that fame or things. (Matt.6:19-20)
2. Nothing anyone can do to me can harm me: only my reaction will harm me. (Rom.8:28)
3. It's more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)
4. Each person is a creation of God and is unique. (Jer. 1:5)
5. Happiness is a by-product of faithfulness to God and not a goal. (1 Tim. 6:6)
6. If I am careful to do the little things well, the big things will take care of themselves. (Ecc. 9:10)
7. Change is always possible - neither success nor failure is final.
(I Cor. 10:12) I see some applications to McDougalling with this one!
8. I must not take myself too seriously. (Rom. 12:3)
9. Everyone and everything are my teachers. We are interdependent. (I Cor. 12:13) Another McD. application!
10. Be all that you are wherever you are. (Ecc. 9:10)

:) :) :) :) :) So there you go - some things to meditate on today.

God Bless you all :D

Luvoatmeal - i "luv" your post! I think I will print out those 10 principles and keep them where I can easily see them as great reminders of what's truly important. Thank you so much for sharing that!

KC, I can't remember how old the kids are, but I'm thinking of walks to the park where they can swing, play on monkey bars, etc, or going to a neighborhood swimming pool. I don't know all of your situations, and these may not be feasible, but I'm just sure there must be some activity you can find that they will enjoy while you also get your exercise. Even playing catch in the back yard can get you all moving. Too bad about the bikes, but maybe Jacob will enjoy it more when he gets to feeling better.

I especially like the last one, Luv! Thanks for sharing!

My better half began instilling antibiotic drops in my left eye today. I am to have cataract surgery Monday and I would appreciate your prayers in regard to this.

16Rejoice always, 17pray without ceasing, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5, NRSV)

Good morning,

Thank you all for the ideas. I decided to get up at 6 am like during school year. It keeps me on target and I feel better. Get their dad off to work, sit down in front of TV with chair and watch Christian programing while I lift weights. I am doing this for 20 to 30 minutes with 5 pd weights in each hand. I work up a sweat, my blood sugar gets normal, and I am feeling good. Praise God!

I was told my the doc to swim, ride bikes, anything but walk. (Two months ago found out my knee cartilage is gone.) So I will work this out. My issue is mornings so I think I have this under control with the chair and weights.
Pinkrose, you are in my prayers.
May the Lord heal you, protect you, and restore you.
I think me and the oldest are going on a bike ride via the San Fransisco Ferry in the morning. That will be fun.
Well, have a blessed day. I am going to start posting my food in a journal again. I think it is useful and will keep me honest. Thanks, kc

Good morning friends,

I've got a busy day ahead of me but wanted to say HI :D to you all.

Tex gal - thank you for your kindness. I'm glad that you were blessed by those principles.

Pinkrose - I will sure pray for you - that the Doctor does an outstanding job and that God will watch over you as you go through the surgery, and for a very speedy and perfect recovery. :) You are a great source of encouragement to all of us and I appreciate your posts always.

Blessings to all and let's rejoice in God's great goodness, mercy, grace and love today.

Hey KC - we posted at about the same time again! Way to go on the weights in the morning! I'm sorry that walking isn't an option, but there are still so many ways you can exercise and it sounds like you'll be doing them.

God Bless you KC and have a great day!

Mid morning to you all,

I got the house clean, got the kids summer schooled, and am paying bills and talking to you all. We did a great thing this past weekend. We went to the Golden Gate Bridge and rode our bikes across it. It was a beautiful day and yet it was foggy and very very windy in San Fransisco. We rode with seasoned bikers and they about ran us all over. It was by the grace of God that we survived.
Any how, we went down to Crissy Field. I went to the bathroom and there in the middle of a perfectly smooth path was a 6 inc by 2inch high rock sticking out. I said, "wow, I wonder how many people trip over that a day?"
On the way back from the bathroom, I was reading a sign that offered veg chili. I was wondering how is was not vegan? Anyhow, I tripped over that rock before I even knew it. Landed on my knee and elbow. My knee and elbow are scratched and cut. Today my knee looks like someone took a baseball bat to it. I got worried about it and then thought, God's already healed it. So I laid my hands on it and am still claiming the healing that He supplied for me on that cross.
I can't touch it, or put it to anything, but walking is just fine. Black and blue all the way around. Thank you Jesus for what you did for those who love you and believe. I need the faith, Lord. Strengthen me! kc

Hi KC

OUCH!!! Sorry that bad ole rock got you, but I'm glad that you are able to walk. Have you put any ice on it? That should help with any swelling you might have.

I am in awe that you biked across the Golden Gate Bridge. I have only seen it twice, but I do remember it being very big :D It must be wonderful to live in such a beautiful area.

Take care and God Bless!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I'm back from a quick weekend trip with one of my daughters, to help out with the world finals Bible Quizzing tournament. It was a blessing to work with the quizzers who have all memorized every word of 1st and 2nd Corinthians this year. Even though my dds are too old to participate in quizzing, we still like to help out because it is such a worthwhile endeavor. Fun, but tiring in a good way. I did have trouble sticking to the diet in the cafeteria and eating fast food there and back. I mostly ate from the salad bar.

Fun experience- the speaker at the event was from Wycliffe. On Sat. he came and sat next to me and my daughter at lunch. I told him about my youngest daughter doing translation work in Mexico, and long story short- he's lived right in the very compound where she's been! He knows the missionary family she's staying with! God is so kind, to work out that meeting and I was so blessed to hear about his experiences there. He did comment on how dangerous that area is, but I'm at peace that my dd is exactly where the Lord wants her and He will keep her in His care. Right now she's actually working in Ecuador and this week she's co-leading her team of 15 young adults from the US as they do a children's program in the evenings for 400!! children, and another during the day at a large Christian school. Next week they'll be in another city doing much the same. Great experiences, and many seeds of the Gospel being planted.

How's the eye healing, Pinkrose?

KC, I'm sorry for your spill on the bike. I pray that it doesn't leave you on the sidelines for too long. How's it doing?

Thank you luvoatmeal for the 10 principles. Good reminders there!

We serve an Almighty and Loving God who will never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what the opposition. He is worthy of our whole undivided devotion. May He be your primary focus this day even in matters of eating and drinking.

Amen.

You have been having fun, Jubilee, and I think you are a proud Mom!

Thanks for asking about my eye. It seems to be healing nicely but I had never thought much about "resting my eyes" until after the surgery. Reading small print (such as in the Chinese good Book) is very difficult. I expect I will need a few weeks after the surgery on the right eye before I will be able to fully resume my studies.

It is July and I trust someone will start a new thread! :D
