Matt. 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.

Rom. 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Rom. 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

I Cor. 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy, for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

I Cor. 6:19-20 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

I Cor. 9:27a But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection.

I Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

I Cor. 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

I Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

II Cor. 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

II Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

II Cor. 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Gal. 5:16 This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Gal. 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (self control) against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Gal. 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Col. 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Col. 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Heb. 4:15-16 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Heb. 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him.

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

I Peter5:7 Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.

All verses are from the King James Version.
I hope that you all will be blessed, and add any to the list that are special to you!

Thank you for those. Compling them must have taken some time and I appreciate your efforts.

Here is one that I would like to add:

John 6:27

"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

This one helps me to remember that food has it's place - to physically nourish me.

It is not to be used as the centerpiece of my life. Food is not to be used to entertain myself, for excitement, to relieve boredom, to relieve stress, as comfort, or any of the various other ways I have used it in the past.

Donna

Thanks for posting these. It really helps me to meditate on the TRUTH! No matter what the world or the enemy of my soul wants me to think on, I can think on these things and know that God has a plan and is in control of all things. And that "the theif comes only to steal, kill, and destroy", but Jesus came "so that we may have Life, and have it to the full." So, thanks, I appreciate this thread.

Here is another verse for your edification. I read this earlier in my morning bible reading:

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, for without me ye can do nothing.

We truly need to abide in Him for everything.

Thank you so much for posting the scriptures. I am going to print out this thread and put it in my purse for those moments of temptation.

Blessings,
Cathy

What a lovely thread. Calm, I am glad you are exploring all the different forums, not just the lounge. This area is especially helpful.
